DescriptionThe Intermediate (Midweight) Designer will work closely with teams, supporting the provision of research, design and delivery of strategies for making exciting neighbourhoods.Overall Responsibilities:Retail activation inputs into masterplan overlay and user-researched presentation material.Planning diagrams for sustainable size and placement of commercial space and use-recommendations that are designed around the identified needs or differing user types.Research into what people want to visit: the latest/ most successful retail centres, entertainment and leisure concepts, cultural uses and events, and how versions of these concepts can enrich our schemes.Documentation with diagrammatic information on principles and illustrative benchmarking that helps inform the Client’s planning and elevational drawings.Creation of conceptual diagrams with accompanying text that distils ideas into key bullet-points.Public realm activation of shop-spill-out and delivery programming lists for event spaces.Creation of Powerpoint and Indesign documents.Contribution to studio culture (how we think, work and play).Requirements and skills:Accomplished & creativeall-rounder from research to visualization to detailing.Cross-sector experience in the following a must: Retail/F&B/Brand Experience.Comfortable with Retail Strategy / Customer JourneyDesign.Eagerness to find new leisure and retail concepts.Architectural / master planning background.Abilitytotake ownership of projectswith supervision.Decision-making autonomy and ability to work remotely.Teamwork and eagerness to learn new methods.Able to verbally articulate your ideas in a variety of contexts.Confident with client liaison.Graphical and detail-focused presentation skills.Good organisational and prioritising skills.A desire to develop yourself and those around you.3+ years of experience within the creative industry, preferably in an interdisciplinary designer role, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency with the following software:SketchUp and/or Rhino(Necessary)Enscape and/ or Twin Motion (Advantageous)Hand-drawing (Advantageous)Revit (Optional)Perkins&Will / Portland Design are an equal opportunity employer and supports talent from diverse backgrounds that bring experiences, viewpoints and solutions that best serve our clients, community and enrich our work environment.Any offer of employment with Perkins&Will / Portland Design will be conditional upon you having the right to work in the UK.
