Interim Head of Finance

A leading College of Further Education in Lancashire. Your new role An Interim Head of Finance role, reporting to the Director of Finance and Resources, and leading a team of staff. You will be responsible for: Providing effective management and leadership of the Finance Team. Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, online payments, general ledger, cash holdings and control accounts. Maintaining relationships with external stakeholders including the auditors and the bank. Implementing improvements in the College's use of the finance system. Supporting budget holders in budgetary control and providing user-friendly and timely financial reports for budget holders and management. Ensuring robust and effective financial controls are in place at all times. Advising senior leaders on key financial matters. Leading the budget-setting and financial forecasting processes. Monitoring spend against budget, in order to inform strategic decisions. Undertaking financial analysis of College activities and revenues. Supporting year-end accounting and audit processes. Taking responsibility for the timely and efficient preparation and submission of financial returns to the ESFA and other regulatory bodies. Ensuring any tax obligations are discharged correctly and effectively. What you'll need to succeed You will be a fully qualified accountant, with previous experience of a senior finance role in a college or school. You will be technically strong and used to leading a team of staff. You will be available to start immediately and happy to commit to at least three months.
