Interim Head of Balance Sheet Management

One of the UK’s leading challenger banks have mandated us exclusively to find them someone to provide interim leadership to the Balance Sheet Management team for at least 12 months. This person will be responsible for the bank’s front office execution including booking derivatives recommended by the ALM team. In addition they will also be managing the bank’s HQLA portfolio, day-to-day liquidity, as well as maintaining their key banking relationships. This bank offers hybrid workingRole DescriptionProviding leadership to the ALM team (6 people) and therefore will be required to have a good understanding of liquidity and interest rate risk management concepts and techniquesAlong with the Director of Treasury, managing the bank’s interest rate risk exposure through the use of derivatives, typically interest rate swapsEffective management of drawings from the SMF (such as ILTR) to provide liquidity alongside the deposit raising operation.Management of the bank’s collateral pools with the Bank of England in relation to central bank funding schemesTo lead the production of Treasury policies Funding Plan, Overarching Treasury Policy and Lending Commitments PolicyInteraction with relationship banksTo aid in the effective interest rate margin management of the bank’s assets and liabilities through an effective Funds Transfer PolicyProjects and ad-hoc analysis for GEC, ALCO, Board Risk Committee and the BoardProvide support to the Director of Treasury, as and when requiredProvide partial cover for the ALM team, as appropriateRole RequirementsSignificant experience in a Treasury Banking environmentAll round Treasury product knowledgeA good understanding of the PRA regulatory landscape and the ILAAP as well as good knowledge of financial derivativesDegree holder from reputable institutionRelevant professional qualification such as the AMCT, ACA, ACCA, CFA etc preferred
