Role Overview My client a global engineering business based in Cheltenham are looking to take on a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) on an interim basis, 6-9 months on a day rate, inside of scope of IR35.The Financial Accountant will have core responsibilities and will be required to be cover for some team responsibilities whilst team members are on annual leave. There are a number of projects and workstreams for continuous improvement across the department. The role holder will be working on some of these in addition to the core responsibilities. Core Role ResponsibilitiesIFRS 16 Lease Accounting This role will manage financial accounting and reporting for Leasing at month end and provide relevant financial disclosures.This includes maintaining entries on the bespoke Group Finance portal for our Fleet (IBM Cognos system – TM1).Currently the main Leasing areas are -Sale and Leaseback Fleet – continued accounting for a 2022 Sale and lease back transaction as the fleet is gradually replaced.Leased ‘Business need’ company cars, accounted for under IFRS16, with entries in TM1.Leased Salary Sacrifice carsSupporting on the introduction and accounting for the new Salary Sacrifice car scheme.Printer leasingApart from the relevant leased Asset / Liability Balance Sheet reporting, the role will also reconcile the Leasing car control account e.g. reviewing payments against Salary contributions for various Fleet costs or for services provided.Discrepancies to be investigated and resolved, working the Fleet controller.Supporting in setting up of processes and reporting for the new Salary Sacrifice car scheme.Preparation of the monthly associated balance sheet reconciliations and any improvement of those.Latest Estimate and Balance sheet Forecasting for this area.Management and Employee Bonus Calculations/Payroll Support Management and development of an excel based model to calculate Senior Management Bonuses in line with contracts. The model covers multiple business units and uses various criteria to flex calculations for each business segment as well as forecasting.Similarly, management and development of the employee bonus scheme for both accruals and forecasting purposes.Preparation of the monthly associated balance sheet reconciliations and any improvement of those.Latest Estimate and Balance sheet Forecasting for this area.Review of monthly payroll journals and review of and updating of the current Payroll system postings into the ERP system.Responsibility for accounting for Share Based Payments and liaising with Group where required.Team cover for the following areasFixed Asset Register Reporting - be able to Reconcile our Fixed Assets if required.Payroll accounting entries if required.Other areas of support and projects Resolution of balance sheet reconciliation unreconciled items including but not limited to payroll and pension items.Central Finance Journals review.Support on VAT and tax returns across UK and Ireland.Management accounting journals and accounting for Capex projects.Requirements for input in Group Governance Guidance (G3 controls) submissions for core role responsibilities, supporting other team members where required.Ad Hoc projects, tasks, and responsibilities such as leased asset reporting improvements and cashflow forecasting.To be Successful in this role Fully Qualified accountant with PQE and sound Financial Accounting experience.Able to review a new accounting query and propose best accounting practice.A self-starter with experience working in a busy finance function.Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, able to work with multiple stakeholders Effective and proven negotiation skills with ability to influence decision making.Confident in Excel, spreadsheet modelling and Word.Experience with working with a number of ERP systems, and ability to pick this up easily.What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
