RSD are seeking an Instrument Technician to provide expertise to the mechanical department at an established refinery



Basic Function and Scope:



Provides instrument and control system expertise to the Maintenance Department





Safety & Environmental





a)    Understand the requirements of work required for a Top Tier COMAH Establishment and the COMAH Safety Report

b)    Understand the requirements of the Terminal Environmental Permit and ensuring systems to meet compliance

c)    Ensure all Instrument activities have up to date method statements and risk assessments 

d)    Full awareness of Emergency Response procedures





Tasks and Duties:





a)     Installs, and maintains all instrument and control systems on the terminal,

working closely with other members of the Maintenance Team where 

multi-discipline approaches are required

b)     Will use the MMS (Maintenance Management System) to update both equipment 

records and work orders and use the system to schedule required periodic maintenance jobs.

            



Physical Effort:

        80% -    Standing, walking, climbing, bending and using light or medium weight tools and test equipment





Work Environment:

    80% -    Non climate-controlled environment, exposed to prevailing adverse weather conditions, of heat, cold, rain, humidity.



Minimum Qualifications:

a)     HNC in instrumentation/control systems based subject and equivalent relevant experience

b)     Good standard of general education. 

C)     Good experience on plant in the oil or gas processing industry.

D)     Good computer literacy with proficiency in the use of various computer packages     such as Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Windows





Technical Understanding



a)     Will need to work on site SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems) and will therefore require a working knowledge of EN 61511 and hazardous area equipment classification, inspection and selection. 

B)     Will have passed and have current COMPEX units EX01, EX02, EX03 and EX04 

c)     Needs comprehensive knowledge of selection, installation & maintenance of: -

    (i).     Instrumentation & tank gauging (especially E&H and Sabb radar gauges)

    (ii).     Rockwell SCADA systems (RSView)

    (iii).     Tank farm management systems

    (iv).     Rockwell PLC systems (SLC500 & ControlLogix)

d)    Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies

with the company’s ethical practices.
