About the Role
Working as an Instructional Designer with HEP UK, the role will take responsibility for the creation, maintenance and continuous improvement of online course curriculum design. Working closely with multiple external university partners and the wider Academic Services team, the role will lead on delivery of online modules in line with project timelines and linked module interdependencies.
Key Responsibilities Include
To provide expert guidance, consultation and support to university faculty and instructional design staff to conceptualise, design and develop all module components required to produce engaging and compelling high-quality online learning programmes
To ensure modules in development are relevant, current and based on best online learning practice. Complete regular quality reviews as required, and prior to submission for an external review.
To manage module development timelines, liaise with faculty and University instructional design staff to ensure project deadlines are met, escalating to SVP of Academic Services where appropriate.
To maintain ownership of project documentation and project reporting, ensuring that they are updated as required and any risks are identified and escalated appropriately.
To maintain and keep updated own knowledge of the latest research, analysis, and developments within the Global Higher Education Section with specific focus on areas that explore and impact fully online learning.
Key Requirements
2+ years experience in fully online higher education in a UK university. Experience of instructional design for computer science or creative arts would be advantageous
2+ years experience working with Learning Management Systems and other educational technologies.
Excellent knowledge of educational approaches, models and pedagogies for fully online learning
Ability to confidently communicate with others, both synchronously and asynchronously.
Recognition or accreditation from a relevant professional body such as the HEA, SEDA or ALT.
Highly proficient digital literacy skills, including Generative AI, and Multimedia applications with a critical ability to assess the opportunities and challenges of digital tools.
Practical knowledge of UK higher education policies and standards, credit frameworks, copyright and accessibility requirements.

Starting salary of between £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependent upon experience
