Infrastructure Engineer

The Infrastructure team has responsibility for the installation, configuration, maintenance, performance and decommissioning of IT hardware (physical and virtual; compute, storage and networking) and software systems including Telephony and other communication systems across the UK Group businesses. The Infrastructure Engineer will work with team members on problems and incidents to achieve an effective infrastructure both physically and logically

Key Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain systems for capacity and performance which is relied upon by employees and customers based globally.
Contribute towards the design and implementation of agreed solutions that give scalability,availability, stability, and optimum performance using assets on premise and in cloud environments.
Contribute towards the IT asset lifecycle, to ensure expected operation and availability of hardware, software, and cloud services.
Contribute towards the administration and maintenance of communication systems, including email, instant messaging, and telephony.
Contribute towards the administration and maintenance of customer facing systems, software and services.
Work with the Software Delivery team to ensure global customer facing systems, software and services are regularly updated and secure from cyber attacks.
Take ownership of server and network incidents through to resolution, ensuring incidents that cannot be resolved are escalated.
Ensure all incidents are successfully and accurately identified, categorised, prioritised, diagnosed and managed in the ticketing system.
Maintain accurate asset and configuration information and their relationships/dependencies.
Transport and configure assets to ensure users are equipped to effectively carry out their role.
Liaise with 3rd parties to resolve problems.
Share expertise of systems with team members through, documentation, training knowledge-sharing and mentoring junior team members.
Respond to escalated requests from the IT Support Team.
Act as moderator for email filters when required.
The job holder may also be asked to undertake other duties outside of this job description that are commensurate with their skills and experience, including tasks delegated by their line manager and other management staff.
​The job holder may be required to occasionally work at sites other than their primary place of work and may be required to occasionally work outside their normal working hours.

Technical/Job Skills, Qualifications and Experience
​ Microsoft Certified in Server Management, Azure Infrastructure Management (or equivalent).
Maintaining and administrating all Microsoft Server operating systems, on premise and in cloud environments.
Provisioning, maintaining and administrating Microsoft Azure resources.
Maintaining and administrating Microsoft Active Directory and Azure AD.
Maintaining and administrating Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange Online.
Maintaining and administrating Microsoft Teams.
Maintaining and administering a modern VoIP telephony system.
Experience configuring working with network systems and network security devices.
Knowledge and experience of Disaster Recovery / resilience planning and deployment.
Flexibility in dealing with a combination of simultaneous projects and tasks.
The ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation.
Ability to work independently to research and resolve technical issues.
Ability to work as a team member.
Understand and use change management systems.
Experience configuring and using Linux OS (desirable).
