Probationary Period
All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.

Agile and Flexible Working
All our staff will have a work base. However the Trust operates as an Agile Working Team therefore staff may be working from home on a regular basis as required by the service. However, occasionally travel around Warwickshire and into your base will be required so access to your own transport would be helpful.

Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated developer to join South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust. We are an integrated acute and community Trust serving community services to the whole of Warwickshire.
The role, in the Data Warehouse Team, is to cover maternity leave but has the potential to be extended due to the Trust project on replacing Patient administration system.
The successful candidate will we be developing and supporting the Trust's Data Warehouse and Business Information systems. This team is a key part of the Information Department which provides a wide range of operational and performance reports to the Trust through its Business Intelligence systems.
The candidate will have a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in database management and extensive practical experience of MS SQL server in a working environment. A robust understanding of database concepts and programming techniques is essential, along with excellent technical and communication skills and a willingness to learn new ways of working to enhance efficiency. The ability to interpret complex user requirements and translate these into deliverables is essential. Knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts and knowledge of Insource's Data Academy and/or BI tools will be advantageous.
The role will mainly be working from home but will have to attend the occasional meeting on site.
Main duties of the job
To develop, manage and maintain the Trust's Data Warehouse business intelligence system to produce key dataset outputs. Development and enhancement of web-based reporting and managing third party databases.
Recommend improvements to streamline and enhance existing processes and systems, promoting greater efficiency and effectiveness within production and use of information.
Act as a specialist providing advice on Data Warehouse system or information developments to project managers/IM&T staff, external third party developers or Trust users. Be a source for the information team to develop advanced technical skills.

Key Result Areas:
1. Provide technical assistance to the Information Department to help ensure that the Trust's Data Warehouse and its processes fully support Contracting/SLA reporting requirements including Payment by Results (PbR) and SUS data submissions.
2. To respond to queries regarding data integrity within the department's Data Warehouse and other systems. Investigating, raising and resolving issues with the Information Service Managers.
3. To improve and streamline existing processes and systems to promote greater efficiency and effectiveness in the production and use of information and offer performance and productivity advice.
4. Working closely with Line Manager, manage the development of new information databases, information processing systems, and deployment working closely with other Information and ITSS Services staff in Warwickshire.
5. To help develop the use of web based reporting tools, including designing, maintaining and developing reports, for different audiences, assisting colleagues in the use of these tools. Also responsible for guidance to report writers.
6. To lead with support of Line Manager on the implementation of reporting tools and data warehousing to support the development of key performance indicators with drill through facilities using Microsoft SQL server reporting services , Analysis Services, Integration Services and other third party BI Tools.
7. To work with the line manager to manage upgrades to data warehouses and reporting tools to ensure the department keeps up with the latest technologies and SQL server upgrades and other software upgrades.
8. To be able to decipher the work done by others.
9. To maintain a good understanding of available new technologies/techniques and be able to apply as appropriate.
10. Assisting Information staff with database analysis and data interpretation, including problem solving using SQL programming, use of advanced functions and highly complex methodology.
11. Develop and improve information reporting systems to meet the requirements of managers within the Trust including availability, Data quality etc.
12. To support the Trust in the development and implementation of new information systems.
13. Investigate technical issues in areas of expertise related to software or databases, and identify solutions and options for resolution.
14. Ensure that all developed systems are documented to the appropriate level, and that documentation is maintained and up to date
15. Through close liaison with the IT Technical Services Manager, ensure that application servers such as Web Servers and Database Servers are appropriately managed and maintained.
16. Create, develop and sustain good working relationships with external stakeholders.
17. To ensure that the Data Protection Act recommendations relating to the provision of information are followed at all times.
18. Ensure all processes have written currently procedures and that they are followed and maintained at all times.
19. With other senior staff within information, take a shared responsibility for all aspects of data quality and information. Act as a Deputy to Data Warehouse Manager.
20. Maintain a network of contacts and build professional relationships with suppliers and other NHS Trusts.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
Degree or equivalent professional qualification in an ICT related discipline, or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
Relevant recognised qualification or training in database design and maintenance

Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in Database Management in a complex environment
A minimum of two years' experience using and administering Microsoft SQL Server
An in-depth understanding of the principals of relational database design, maintenance and optimisation
Desirable criteria
Knowledge of programming database tasks using SQL Server Integration Services and Stored Procedures
Understand of SSRS reporting system
A good understanding of Windows NT, in particular the effects of user and group permissions for data access
Experience of using Insource Data Academy product
