A self starter who can learn quickly, juggle multiple tasks and make things happen.An individual who wants to drive the business forward, providing great service for our passengers and freight customers, while making it a great place to work. About the role (External) What does the average day look like?
As an Industrial Relations expert, you'll play a key role in fostering a harmonious workplace. You will work closely supporting our HR teams and Business colleagues, to resolve issues locally but providing direction if the going gets tough.
You will provide insights on employment arrangements and collective agreements. You will support managing contracts and have an overview of what variations are available, as appropriate via our Terms and conditions on offer.
It is likely you will have to work with multiple partners across the business and industry day to day. This will lend itself to understanding what is going on in a wider context and enable us to be aware of best practice being deployed.
One of the roles will specifically support in the area of Policy. This will include supporting with our policy work bank, researching external practices, benchmarking and data insights, responding to any legislative changes, working with our business areas and HR colleagues, as well as working with our trade unions to provide a set of policies that support enhanced employee engagement and deliver on attracting and retaining the best talent.

Successful experience in HR, IR or Payroll within a large multisite complex unionised organisation
·
CIPD qualified or equivalent or relevant experience
·
In depth knowledge of terms and conditions of employment
·
In depth knowledge of HR policies and procedures and employment legislation
·
Strong analytical skills and use of databases.
·
Experience of successfully resolving HR related management queries
·
Robust knowledge of Employment Law e.g. TULR(C)A, Employment Rights Act and TUPE How to apply (External) Duration:

These roles are based in QMK, for Milton Keynes roles you must live within 75 / 60 minutes or willing to self-relocate.
There may be some flexibility on location, this can be discussed with individual candidates.

BPSS
As an arm’s length department of the UK Government, Network Rail is required to comply with a well-established pre-employment vetting process for all prospective employees.
