Developing and operating across North America, EMEA and Asia Pacific, Vantage has evolved data center design in innovative ways to deliver dramatic gains in reliability, efficiency and sustainability in flexible environments that can scale as quickly as the market demands.Position OverviewVantage is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative Indirect Tax Manager to take ownership of indirect tax compliance and advisory workstreams in the fast-growing EMEA region, relating to Vantage’s finance and growth strategies. You will support broad company objectives, partnering with other departments to support delivery of our data centre developments, and interact with key internal and external stakeholders. You will work closely with our Tax Director, EMEA and have visibility with members of our Executive Team in EMEA. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is capable of driving results and enjoys variety and solving challenging problems.DutiesSupport our local advisors and relevant Vantage Financial Controllers in the preparation and submission of our indirect tax filings throughout the EMEA region, where such filings are undertaken by outsourced providers.Support the relevant Finance teams in the preparation and submission of our indirect tax filings throughout the EMEA region, where such filings are prepared in-house, reviewing the VAT reports and underlying supporting documentation prior to submission.Work with the Finance and Tax teams to develop indirect tax processes and integrate these into the EMEA Tax software (currently a work-in-progress), enabling the capture of critical information in a document repository and boosting deal readiness.Ensure tax filing and payment deadlines are met and monitor local tax legislation, updating processes as required.Work with the Finance teams to manage and expedite the recovery of VAT receivables, contributing to net working capital management by identifying “sticking points”, managing external stakeholders, and providing the necessary information to release cash receivables.Work with Finance teams to respond to local tax authority compliance checks / interventions into indirect tax filings, ensuring readiness for such checks on a periodical basis, and respond to escalated enquiries / audits for indirect taxes.Work with our Systems Accountant to ensure the compliance of accounting systems with local indirect tax laws. We are not looking for a technical IT guru, but somebody who can explain what the system needs to achieve from a compliance with local laws perspective.Work with Finance and Tax teams to identify viable areas for in-sourcing of indirect tax filings, and collaborate to implement the necessary processes and system readiness.Prepare relevant indirect tax forms, including VAT registrations, options to tax, error corrections, working with external advisors as needed.Work with procurement and delivery teams to establish a smooth process for transit and import of goods critical to delivery of data centre developments. Customs experience and knowledge is not a pre-requisite, but a willingness to learn about these important areas is expected.Contribute to strategic tax projects (e.g. M&A projects, land acquisitions, new territory reviews, contract reviews, recharging methodologies, inventory and customs management, tax automation projects).Identify VAT training needs within the region and work with Tax and Finance leadership to facilitate such training, working with external advisors as necessary.Infrequent travel within EMEA will be required.Given we are a fast-growth, agile group, it is likely job duties will evolve and change over time. The role promises variety and opportunities to develop tax skills in a number of jurisdictions. Dependent on capacity and development of the role, management of other indirect taxes, for example Relevant Contracts Tax (Ireland) or Construction Industry Scheme (UK), may be added to role duties.Job RequirementsExpectation of minimum 2 - 3 days per week office attendance at our Newport offices.Preferably 5+ years of experience in VAT compliance and advisory, preferably with exposure to large multinational groups. Knowledge of customs clearance processes and cross-border transit of goods is advantageous but not required.Professional qualification in accountancy and/or tax, with ACA/ACCA and/or CTA preferred but not mandatory, depending on experience.Good communication and inter-personal skills, as business partnering will be a key part of the role.Ability to work effectively to competing deadlines.A pro-active, problem-solving approach, and a desire to learn about and understand new tax concepts and regimes, is critical.Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.Ability to speak a foreign language advantageous, but not required.We operate with No Ego and No Arrogance.
