Our client is a leaer in their field and due to continued growth are now looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Indirect Strategic Buyer to join their team. The Buyer will be responsible for developing and improving the way in which the business  purchases Indirect goods and services.

Role Overview

Negotiating costs and other terms effectively in line with department objectives, procedures and company direction. Identifying, recommending and implementing cost reduction opportunities. Agreeing standards and KPI’s with supplier in line with stakeholders, with agreed monitors and escalation routes and controlling ordering process.

Duties and Responsibilities

• To be responsible for negotiating the lowest total acquisition costs for indirect goods and services


• To assist department staff in accordance with the company policies and procedures.


• To identify and recommend suppliers for new / existing requirements in order to meet cost reduction targets


• To monitor commodity market trends in order to provide the base information required to conduct effective strategic supplier negotiations


• To assist in the drafting of purchasing contracts between the business and new / existing suppliers for consideration and approval.


• To control and improve ordering process for retail stores.


• To co-ordinate and manage effectively the release, progressing and replies to quotations with - recommendations and proposals. 

Skills and Experience

• Experience of working in a busy purchasing department within a Manufacturing company


• Experience of MRP systems


• Strong negotiation skills and experience


• MCIPS qualified


• Professional related in purchasing and supply or equivalent
