Imports Coordinator

L: Birchwood, Warrington WA3 /Hybrid
Salary: �15.65 p/h paye / �20.67 p/h Umbrella inside IR35
Mon - Friday 08:00 - 16:00 (flexible)

The Role:

Assists in the administration of planning, development implementation and operation of the systems and processes for the payment and avoidance of duties and taxes. Liaises with HM customs to ensure European Community regulatory compliance and rules applicable to duty/tax avoidance. Preparing, completes and submits monthly returns of duties/taxes paid (and avoided) to HM customs.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate Duty Management System (Ricardo) in accordance with H.M. Revenue & Customs (HMRC) requirements.
  • Raise and send Import Instructions to Agents ensuring they are fully compliant with (HMRC) requirements.
  • Ensure all import entries are raised/completed/filed by due dates and are fully compliant with (HMRC) requirements
  • Support the continued use of Simplified Customs Declaration Procedures
  • Authorise and verify customs clearance agencies use of deferment account and apportions costs internally.
  • Supporting Trade Compliance practices to ensure compliance and maintenance
  • Maintain the Imports Master Log so that accurate records are maintained for audit and trade compliance purposes.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvements by proactively reviewing processes to ensure that maximum efficiency and duty recovery is maintained and increased (LEAN)
  • Liaises with suppliers (and customers) shipping lines & haulers in connection with the movement of goods.
  • Processes/finalises insurance claims as/if applicable under the Maritime Insurance Policy.
  • Ability to provide basic guidance and support to internal and external customers on HM (Her Majesties) customs requirements.

Skills and Experience:

  • ERP system knowledge (i.e. SAP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Previous Supply Chain experience.
  • Understanding of UK import formalities.
  • Organisational skills and ability to work to tight deadlines and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with overseas,internal and external contacts
  • Problem solving and analytical skills, ability to analyse potential alternatives and provide suitable solutions.
  • Positive approach with recognition of the need to focus on the requirements of customers

Beneficial skills:

  • Analytics / Tableau experience
  • Understanding of LEAN Principles
  • Previous experience using a Duty Management System.
