Location: Preston (or any of the HMLR offices) with regular travel to Plymouth
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full time, part time, flexible working
Salary: £41,206 (national) £44,938 (Croydon)

We are proud to be working with HM Land Registry who are currently looking for IBM Database Administrators to join their team.

What will you be doing?

You will be part of the team responsible for the maintenance and support of Land Registrys corporate databases, including administration, provision of technical support, advice and problem resolution.

Main duties

Monitor table and index space growth and organisation; identify objects for reorganisation or repartitioning according to established thresholds
Implement object changes as part of an application release schedule or installation of software package; document the changes
Use appropriate tools to identify inefficient database access paths or applications affecting CPU levels; recommend and implement changes to improve efficiency; document the changes
Amend application data when authorised; document the changes
Execute processes to provide statistical and accounting information in support of the production databases; analyse and distribute as appropriate
Execute processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the database and application environments; act on any anomalies
Apply agreed database security requirements; document the changes
Keep database backup and recovery processes current; monitor and resolve any identified problem
Investigate and implement new techniques for database design, maintenance, access and connectivity

What do you need?

Knowledge and practical experience of the administration of the following relational database:
o Db2 for z/OS (v10 or later)
A broad knowledge of IT infrastructure and operations academically or through work experience
Evidence of high-level planning and managing technical change

Additional Information

The location of this role is flexible. A lot of the team are based out of Plymouth, and you will be required to attend the Plymouth office regularly for onboarding and team building travel / hotel costs will be covered. However, success in this role is not defined by the hours worked so we can consider a range of working hours and patterns, and you can select any of the HMLR offices to be your base.
