Overview of role:
The position is a 12-month FTC role to cover Maternity Leave of our People & Culture Manager. We are seeking someone to fulfil partial responsibilities of this role on a Part Time (24 Hour per week) contract.
This is a standalone position and will report directly into our CEO.
At Umbrella, people & culture plays a key role in ensuring the welfare, development, and capability in our team to deliver outstanding apprenticeships to our learners and clients.
The post holder will be responsible for all typical HR activities; supporting senior managers where appropriate to achieve this.
This a fantastic opportunity for someone to take ownership of the HR function within a small and friendly organisation.

Act as the main contact for people & HR related matters.
To provide sound and consistent advice to all Line Managers and employees.
Support in continuing the implementation of people & culture strategies for 2024-#####, with the guidance of the CEO and Directors.
Ensure effective and meaningful employee relations with all employees, with retention of our team being a core focus.
Manage all aspects of the employee life cycle including recruitment, inductions, performance management, leave & absence, reward and exit processes.
Keep abreast of industry trends, government & employment legislation and action appropriately.
Ensure that all legislative processes are kept up to date, including employment and right to work checks, DBS checks, health & safety checks, mandatory qualifications and others.
Manage recruitment, including recruitment functionalities on social media platforms.
Lead on safer recruitment activities and partner with the safeguarding lead in the business to ensure compliance, at an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted level, full training to be provided.
Manage, monitor, and evaluate performance, including 1-1 quality and frequency.
Conduct Staff Surveys, and action as appropriate.
Support in the organisation and running of our Umbrella Colleague Academy, our internal training programme.
Manage and review the employee benefits and rewards processes.
Manage all HR software, ensuring all employee files are up to date and compliant.
Support the head office team to ensure effective running of Umbrella HO
Present and advise on HR information, updates, legislation, and development areas at relevant meetings.
Support in the effective running of any internal and external meetings, including venue arrangements, travel, accommodation, catering, operational support, minutes etc.
Support in document & policy control.
Attend company meetings and Umbrella HO as and when required.
Additional projects and responsibilities as designated by the CEO and senior leadership team.
Requirements:
Proven experience in a Junior HR role and/or standalone HR position.
CIPD Level 5 qualified, or experience at that level and above.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Experience in recruitment and ER matters.
The flexibility to be hands on and operative due to the size of our business.
Effective IT skills, and experience in managing recruitment and associated platforms.
