Basic Function:



Responsible for supporting the HSE Manager with ensuring all workplace safety and compliance activities are coordinated and carried out.



Reports to: Head of Health, Safety and Environmental

General Responsibilities




  1. Administrative Support:



· Provide general administrative services to the Head of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE).



· Support with data entry, record keeping, creation of procedure documents, carry out policy reviews and issue updates.



· Carry out accident and near miss investigations.



· Manage communications and toolbox talks to the wider teams.



· Work collaboratively with the Head of HSE, developing policies and safer ways of working within the group.



· Assist with managing diaries, contractor approvals and site contractor inductions.



· Support in creating HSE training and development plans for all staff.



· Deliver communication follow-ups for any health and safety updates.




  1. Compliance and Reporting:



· Ensure the company is compliant with legislation and procedures related to health and safety.



· Maintain accurate records and documentation associated with health, safety, and environmental activities.



· Prepare regular reports on health and safety matters, for departments and senior management.




  1. External Liaison:



· Collaborate with external agencies, contractors and training organisations on health and safety issues.



· Assist in making improvements and implementing necessary changes to the working environment.




  1. Targets and Efficiency:



· Achieve personal targets and contribute to team and company targets.



· Assist with carrying out internal health and safety, and environmental audits.



· Contribute to the efficient functioning of the health and safety team and the wider manufacturing teams.



· Provide guidance and advice to others, developing positive working relationships.





Special Projects:



· Participate in special HSE related projects, as required by the job role.




  1. Secondary Tasks:



· Perform reasonable tasks necessary to maintain, promote, develop, and expand the organisation’s business interests.





Person specification



· Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.



· Ability to follow instructions, providing support, as required, to members of the health & safety team and manufacturing teams.



· Appreciation and understanding of confidentiality and able to understand and be sensitive to diversity and equality.



· Attention to detail to identify inconsistencies in documents such as reports, policies etc.



· Organised and able to meet tight deadlines with excellent time management skills.



· Flexible in approach with ability to respond to changing pattern of demand at work which can be unpredictable and unplanned, requiring constant shifts in priority.



· Experience of working in an office environment



· Proven ability working with Word, Excel spreadsheet’s written reports and associated correspondence.



· Established IT knowledge (Microsoft Office, email, software packages etc.)

Qualifications



· NEBOSH General Certificate - Required.



· Experience in a similar role - Required.



· Working knowledge of ISO (phone number removed) and 45001 - Desirable



Others:



· Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all health and safety executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer’s industry.



· Assist with preparation of site risk assessment and method statements



· Promotion of ‘Near Miss’ & ‘Safety Observation’ reporting, action & closure as a recognised model for delivering a safe workplace and a safety culture across the site
