Hays HR are currently working with a well establish client in Leeds to recruit a HRBP / Senior HR Advisor to join the expanding team.

This is a job with lots of variety and a high degree of responsibility. It combines working very closely with line managers from Team Leader to senior Partner level, advising and guiding them on operational and strategic HR matters, with DEI responsibilities and regular interesting project work.
A broad set of HR skills, strong relationship building and team working aptitude are needed. It can be a Hybrid role working 2 or 3 days from home most weeks.
Main Responsibilities
Operational HR
Consulting with managers from Team Leader to Partner level, on the full range of people management cases, working collaboratively with them to find appropriate solutions. This includes advising and coaching them on motivation, engagement, career progression, role changes, performance management, special leaves, change management, staff communications, and sickness absence.
Meeting regularly with Group Heads and Function Heads to proactively guide, coach and support them on their people management responsibilities.
Advising managers and staff on policy, process, employment law, best practice.
Supporting regular performance reviews and the completion of appraisals.
Updating, improving, and if needed creating, HR policies and practices in line with firm strategy and employment law changes; communicating and training on these changes.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Responsible for ensuring delivery of the activity arising from the DEI strategic plan, working closely with the Deputy HR Director and our DEI Board sponsor.
Lead the DEI Focus Group, obtaining their input on current and potential plans.
Managing the annual DEI survey, analysing, collating and publishing the results.
Monitoring progress of and updating the annual DEI plan, proposing new activity or initiatives that support the plan and gaining manager and staff engagement.
Producing internal communications and regularly updating the business on DEI activity.
Contributing, with the Deputy HRD, to the monthly Board report DEI content.
HR Project Work
Taking responsibility for and leading a small number of specific projects derived from the HR strategy.
Collaboratively working on projects as a member of other HRA’s project teams.
Acting as contact for non-HR team members in Deputy HR Director’s absence.
Candidate Skills and Experience
3+ years HR Advisor generalist experience including advising senior managers;
Worked in HR in a professional services environment
Sufficient generalist HR law, best practice and policy knowledge to advise and coach on a wide range of HR matters;
Proficiency at staying ahead of the changing landscape in HR and DEI;
A friendly and polite manner with staff and senior people combined with sufficient gravitas to give Partners confidence in the advice given;
A preference for working on a variety of tasks at any one time and ability to juggle and prioritise multiple deadlines effectively;
Competence at balancing commercial and customer needs;
Ability to quickly pick up information and develop an understanding of the business;
Willingness to travel to other UK offices by public transport once or twice a month, more rarely to European offices (probably twice a year or less);
Word and Outlook skills.
Education/Qualifications:
GCSE level (or equivalent) English and Maths at grade C or higher as a minimum.
CIPD qualification is not required, practical experience, ability and attitude are far more important. Anyone un-qualified or part-qualified and wanting to study for CIPD will be supported to do so, but not required to do so.
