Overall Purpose of the Role
Lead and inspire the events team to deliver exceptional day to day standards
Work closely with clients to plan and deliver exceptional events
To manage and grow revenue and other commercial targets
Key Responsibilities
Ensure correcting rostering of the department to meet business needs, operating standards and budget
Carry out daily checks of outgoing meetings and events to ensure exceptional standards are maintained and issues rectified
Ensure all meetings and events are delivered on time every time
Offer hands-on support at peak times where required
Ensure correct labelling of products and allergen processes are followed
Where staffing shortfalls exit, work with other departments to fill these shortfalls
Ensure daily cleaning and maintenance schedules are maintained and any defects reported
Work closely with all clients and the internal sales team to ensure the exceptional planning of future events, providing practical and creative solutions where needed
Build strong and productive relationships with all internal clients and sales team for the benefit of the operation and commercials
Constantly strive and work towards more efficient and smarter ways of working, to benefit service standards and team performance and moral
Work with the marketing manager to ensure correct promotions and P.O.S material is in place where applicable
Ensure the team are provided with the correct tools to do their job to the highest standard and where required request additional tools from the operations manager
Maintain a clean, tidy and safe storage and service area
Ensure daily team briefings take place on the immediate business ahead
Ensure weekly planning meetings exits for up-and-coming events
Work closely with the executive chef in ensuring immediate and future meetings and events are delivered to exceptional standards
Work closely with the senior management team in developing future menus, offers, marketing and developments in service standards

People
Recruit and train all new employees in line with Compass standards
Identify on-going training needs to strive for continuous improvement
Lead by example in creating a can-do positive working environment
Report any under-performance to the operations manager to implement improvement plans
Ensure reward & recognition of all employees is promoted, requesting tools and resources from the operations manager where needed
Where possible encourage and promote the cross-training of employees in other units
Promote a culture of healthy and safety by ensuring all staff are correctly trained, they know how to do their job and have the tools to do it safely
Commercial
Understand and be aware of the department revenue, GP and labour targets, ensuring actions are in place
Set team targets, to support the delivery of commercials
Support the operations manager in ensuring month-end stock takes are carried out on time
Produce a weekly revenue flash forecast for the department
Maintain stock levels in line with business needs by analysing sales and volume trends
Monitor till discrepancies and put actions in place to rectify issues
Work with the operations manager in maintaining standards of paperwork and compliance in line with profit protection guidelines and preparing for profit protection audits
Manage the waste management program in line with company standards

Location
The post holder will be generally located at the university campus, however, may be required to travel to other sites for training purposes or to assist with large events from time to time.
Post Specification
The post is 40 hours per week, 52 weeks a year. The suitable candidate must be adaptable and flexible with the requirement to work potentially unsocial hours as required by the events and hospitality business delivery.
Personal Specification - Essential
We are looking for a Professional with uncompromising standards who is self-motivated a great team leader and always up for a challenge to join us
Previous experience as Hospitality manager in a high volume business is essential
Experience and knowledge of both operations and client relationships
Knowledge of service delivery methods for all event types
Knowledge of revenue, labour and GP% budgets
Ability to work as an effective member of the management team, in shaping, supporting and driving forward an agreed plan
Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure
Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues across the university
Creative, innovative and forward thinking
Ability to organise a team to deliver exceptional standards
Ability to plan for the short, medium and long term through exceptional organisational skills
Ability to work with clients to provide creative event solutions
Personal Specification - Desirable
Knowledge of hospitality booking platforms
Working in a large conferencing and events facility, i.e conference centre, hotels, stadium, VIP lounges
Knowledge of trends and developments in the events industry
