Highways Inspector Via East Midlands

Highways Inspector Working Pattern:
37 hrs per week Monday – Friday
Location: Bilsthorpe, Sutton, Gamston and Blyth – Nottinghamshire
We are looking for 4 Highways Inspectors to join our expanding Highways Inspections Team.
The team carries out inspections across Nottinghamshire’s highways to maintain a safe passage for all highway users both immediately and in the long term.
The Job
Key areas of responsibility will include: –
To carry out highway inspections and be able to order repairs when needed.
To be accurate and consistent when undertaking inspections while following approved guidance.
To manage your own time efficiently on a daily and monthly basis, planning your own workload and adapting to changing priorities.
Be able to organise the delivery of emergency surfacing works due to incidents on the highway.
Be able to communicate with our customers including members of the general public, parish/town councillors, colleagues and key internal stakeholders.
Be able to represent Via and the Highways Authority using your current experience and knowledge gained within the role.
The Person
Mainly you will be excited to be out on the highway, but there are just a few other things we’d like from you:-
Previous knowledge of the construction or highway industry
Good communication skills with the ability to adapt to different customers.
Ability to work both independently and within a small team.
Enjoy undertaking inspections both on foot and in a van (you will be outside rain or shine!)
Ability to interpret policy guidelines and adapt to the relevant situation.
Basic IT skills.
Full UK driving licence.
