Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Location: Oldbury

Daily Rate: £100 – 120 per day

Employment: Long term to permanent Monday, Wednesday & Friday (8.45am – 4.30pm) and Tuesday & Thursday (8.45am- 3.30pm) starting immediately.

GSL Education are currently supporting a school in Oldbury are looking for experienced special educational needs (SEN) HLTA who will be involved with working 1:1 and small groups with children with Extremely Challenging Behaviour, Autism, ADHD, Aggression, SEMH, PMLD, Looked After Children, CSE/CSA, those who are at risk of harm to themselves or others as well as individuals with Attachment difficulties. At GSL we have a great reputation in the area and are renowned for our professional and personable service.

The school based in Oldbury is easy to access by car or public transport. Currently, the School are looking for candidates to work full-time across the whole school, with experience in Key Stage 1 and 2.

The potential candidate is required to be an experienced in a Primary setting having had substantial involvement dealing with young children possessing PMLD needs. The role may become permanent for the right candidates.

Responsibilities


  • Preparing classrooms for lessons, including setting up televisions for video presentations and sourcing books and handouts for students
  • Deliver high-quality PPA cover across the school, ensuring continuity and progression in learning for all pupils
  • Provide targeted support and intervention to children performing below age-expected levels
  • Teaching classes unassisted when needed
  • Planning and delivering learning and enrichment activities, either with Teachers or independently
  • Working with small groups of students or individuals needing special attention
  • Assessing students’ progress and discussing development with Teachers, parents, and Carers
  • Consoling students who are unwell, injured or upset
  • Undergoing in-service training where required (Usually Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Requirements:


  • Previous experience working as a HLTA within a primary/SEN school setting is highly desirable
  • Hold a relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent
  • Previous experience working as a HLTA within a primary school setting is highly desirable


  • A minimum of six months’ worth of ASD/SEMH/PMLD experience.
  • The ability to build rapport quickly and effectively.
  • Experienced in Challenging Behaviour Settings.
