I'm currently recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a Special Autistic School in Effingham, Surrey. Your role will be to support the teacher within the class, working with children between the ages of 11 - 16 with behavioural, communication and learning difficulties.

Role: Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Location: Effingham, Surrey (near Leatherhead)
Salary: £14.70 - £16.04 per hour (£26,265.95 - £28,660.26 - dependant on experience and qualifications) Plus £2,000 welcome bonus for candidates with Special Education Needs (SEN) experience
Hours: 40 Hours per week - Term time only

Responsibilities of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant;

  • Understand the individual needs of all students with whom you work.
  • To deliver planned learning effectively to ensure that students have the opportunity to achieve their individual targets.
  • To use high quality strategies that keep students engaged through effective questioning, lively presentation and good use of resources.
  • To work as part of a team to maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment that supports the students.
  • Whilst taking account of the needs of individual students, set high expectations for students behaviour.
  • Support and intervene with Challenging Behaviour, according to the school policy.
  • To log all incidents of inappropriate behaviour using the school's agreed system.


Minimum Requirements;

  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/Level 4 is ESSENTIAL
  • Previous experience in Education as a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant is ESSENTIAL/PREFERRED
  • You must be a driver with a full UK license - due to the rural location of the school
