HeRe Assistant Public Engagement RangerLocation: Based at South Downs Centre Midhurst, working from the Bordon area and other locationsClosing Date: 2 June 2024Interview Date: 13 June 2024Salary: £24,436 (£16,510 pro rata - based on 25 hours per week)Hours: 20-25 hours per week, worked across 3 to 4 daysType of post: Fixed term: ideally available for immediate start to 30 September 2024The Heathlands Reunited project (HeRe) is a partnership led by the South Downs National Park Authority which seeks to promote bigger, better, joined-up heathland that people know about, care about, and use responsibly and sustainably. As part of the project s legacy, the Wealden Heath SAMM team consists of a group of engagement rangers focused on the delivery of a range of access management and monitoring solutions to mitigate public access impact on sites in the Wealden Heath Special Protected Areas (SPA) around Bordon.We are looking to recruit an Assistant Public Engagement Ranger to join the team to support the delivery a package of events and access management monitoring solutions for heathland sites during ground nesting bird season.We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with good communication and personal skills who can work collaboratively within a mutually supportive project team. Experience of public engagement and conservation will be an advantage.Role scope:- Flexibility to cover out of hours duties at weekends, early mornings, and evenings. There is potential for work patterns to be adapted to fit lifestyle commitments within agreed core hours.- Travel to sites at irregular hours for short visits.- Ability to travel throughout the project locations and to Midhurst is essential.This part-time seasonal position would suit a student or graduate looking to gain experience in the sector, or someone looking to take their first steps in a career in conservation.Sound like something that interests you?
