Job Role: HEI Academic Quality and Governance Officer
Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)
Location: ONSITE, London, UK
Salary: £35K - £45K (Depending on work experience)
Purpose of the role:
The HEI Academic Quality and Governance Officer is responsible for supporting the realisation of the college academic vision through the improvement, process and appraisal of the WC’s quality assurance and enhancement processes which will lead to applying for OfS application for the organisation.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Provide professional support within the ambit of Quality Assurance & Enhancement for William College. This includes (but is not limited to):
· To support the Senior Management Team (SMT) on issues relating to the national regulation and assessment of teaching quality, student progression and graduate destinations.
· To ensure that the William College meets Office for Students (OfS) requirements on the timeliness, accuracy and accessibility of information on the nature of the student learning
experience, to include oversight of all Programme Specifications and Handbooks.
· Actively taking part on any external reviews of academic quality and standards.
· To lead the strategic review of William College’s-wide policies and provision relating to quality and standards, to include proposing terms of reference, conducting research and agreeing outcomes.
· To design and implement a model of continuous academic review across all the provision that enables college to promptly identify and address challenges to the student experience, student progression and graduate outcomes.
· To ensure that the William College meets the expectations for the UK Quality Code for Higher Education.
· To manage the periodic review of the academic quality and standards of the William College.
· To take part in the Quality Network, a regular forum for discussions relating to academic quality and standards that is attended by SLT and key stakeholders in professional services.
· Understand and facilitate management and operational reporting requirements in relation to the work of the Quality Assurance & Enhancement team, and ensure the production and circulation of relevant, accurate and timely data.
· Develop and implant quality assurance and enhancement policies and strategies at departmental and institutional levels.
· To participate in the annual Performance Development Review process.
Education and qualifications:
Essential: A Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
Desirable: A Masters qualification from a recognised university.
Experience and Knowledge:
Essential:
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar/related position in UK higher education sector.
· Sound knowledge of, or experience in, a Higher Education environment and UK Education Quality code.
· Experience in UK educational policy development.
· Knowledge & understanding of the Office for Students’ and QAA quality agendas and their implications for quality management within higher education providers.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Desirable:
· Knowledge of current developments around regulatory frameworks and quality assurance within Higher Education.
· Experience in working in OfS or QAA.
· Experience of academic partnerships operations.
· UK Higher Education internal and/or external audit / review experience
Skills and personal requirements:
· Excellent written communication skills.
· High level skills in analysis and report writing and the creation of procedural documentation
· Analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate and synthesise information in reports.
· Excellent interpersonal and team working skills.
· Commitment to maintaining high standards of service provision.
· Excellent organisational ability.
· Proven ability to work on own initiative and with demanding workload.
· Proven ability to plan and manage a project to completion.
