Health & Safety Trainer required for large construction site in Chester
Accountable for overseeing and ensuring the effectiveness of the HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) protocols on the project site.
Training and Development
Design and implement engaging HSE induction programs and specific training sessions as outlined in the training matrix for all project employees, newcomers, and visitors.
Maintain training records both electronically and as hard copies in the project database, and input them into the company’s software system.
Regularly review and update the project training procedures and the associated training matrix as needed.
Site Inspections and Safety Walkdowns
Conduct internal HSE inspections of ongoing site operations and welfare facilities, and generate daily reports on findings. Halt operations in cases of imminent danger.
Lead or participate in weekly HSE walkdowns and produce relevant reports.
External and Regulatory Training
Coordinate third-party legal trainings, and assess their effectiveness.
Offer guidance and support concerning regulatory requirements, including CDM 2015 regulations.
Incident Management
Assist in investigating and reporting on-site accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and suggest corrective actions.
Customize training materials to address specific site risks, hazards, and safety protocols.
Subcontractor Coordination
Work with subcontractors to organize and deliver HSE training for their personnel.
Ensure subcontractor employees understand site-specific safety rules and regulations.
Record Keeping and Reporting
Maintain detailed records of all HSE training sessions, including attendance lists and training materials.
Provide regular reports on training completion, performance metrics, and contribute to the monthly project HSE report.
Continuous Improvement and Industry Best Practices
Keep up-to-date with industry best practices, regulations, and emerging trends in construction site safety.
Regularly update training materials to reflect any changes in safety procedures or regulations.
Emergency Response Training
Conduct training on emergency response procedures, including evacuation protocols and first aid, to ensure preparedness in case of incidents.
Promoting a Safety-First Culture
Actively foster a safety-first culture through safety campaigns, bulletins, training posters, toolbox talks, and other initiatives to raise safety awareness among site personnel.
Experience and Qualifications:
Knowledge and Certification
Comprehensive understanding of UK health and safety regulations relevant to construction sites.
NEBOSH/IOSH certification.
Train the Trainer certification.
Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to engage and interact effectively with a diverse workforce.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other training-related software.
Proficiency in Punjabi or other Indian languages is desirable but not essential.
