Great opportunity to join an innovate food manufacturing business as Health and Safety Officer in North Yorkshire to promote a positive H&S culture.
As Health & Safety Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the company and all employees, workers, and visitors comply with safety legislation and that safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered to minimising accidents, injuries, operational losses, and health problems.
Reporting into the Business Director, you will be part of a team producing high-end food products with a desire to promote a positive H&S culture in the workplace.
Your role will include carrying out risk assessments and continuously considering how risks could be reduced, outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards. As H&S Officer you will be responsible for preparing health and safety strategies and developing internal policy, and leading in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risk.
This role will give you the opportunity to liaise with appropriate governmental authorities and their offices. You will be the main point of contact ensuring the business complies with Health and Safety legislation and procedures. This includes conducting assessments such as COSHH, risk assessments, audits, and inspections.
As Health & Safety Officer you will be passionate about SHE and able to influence at a senior level and facilitate change. You will collaborate with management to address safety concerns and improve overall safety culture.
The ideal professional will have:
Previous experience in health and safety management and training in Food Manufacturing or FMCG
Extensive and up to date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
Knowledge of Occupational Health protocol
NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health
Proficient in first aid techniques and emergency response procedures
Strong analytical skills for conducting root cause analysis of incidents
Excellent report writing skills to document findings, recommendations, and corrective actions
