COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE



Our client is a world class, award winning, established and growing manufacturing business, with strong and sustained investment in people, capital and plant. 



The successful candidate will work alongside the Environmental Manager and will also provide assistance to the Senior/HR Manager in appropriately related matters. With a working knowledge of OHSAS 18001 / ISO45001 systems and continuous improvement, you will actively the HSE function.



KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES – Health & Safety Manager




  • Ensure HSE improvements are identified, corrective & preventative actions are taken and sustained.

  • Direct involvement in all HSE matters

  • Involvement in the provision of ground work for legal issues where appropriate

  • Interviews and assessment centres, training, appraisal scheme administration

  • Reward and recognition (suggestions)

  • Training and development (monitoring/support/control)

  • Compiling & delivering internal H&S training packages

  • Coordinating employee exposure monitoring programmes

  • Supervisory / Man Management

  • Supporting Senior / HR Manager with guidance/support on HR/Company policies and procedures (e.g. discipline, absence management, return to work interviews, occupational health assessments etc.)

  • (e.g. Investigations, administration, guidance, Recruitment (interviewing / assessments testing)

  • Performance management (objective setting / appraisals)

  • Risk assessments -  auditing existing and developing new ones

  • COSHH - updating assessments and sourcing new safety data sheets

  • Root cause investigation with accidents/incidents

  • Internal auditing

  • Face fit testing



QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES  - Health and Safety Manager



ESSENTIAL




  • IOSH/NEBOSH

  • Working knowledge of OHSAS 18001/ISO45001 systems



PREFERRED NOT ESSENTIAL




  • Health, Safety and Environmental Degree Preferred NOT Essential

  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 systems and/or ISO 9001 systems / Supervisory/Man Management

  • Working in a Manufacturing Environment / Knowledge of cooling towers / legionella control / Responsible Persons training  / Knowledge of REACH Regulations / Principles of lean tools (5S / SOPs etc) / Environmental awareness – e.g. permits / regulations / ISO 14001



Details of Package:



£48,000 to £54,000 + Bonus (Up to 10% PA) + Benefits (Inc. life Assurance) Hours of work: 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday (Daily lunch break is 1 hour)
