Health & Safety Manager - Chessington, London
Roles & Responsibilities
Chessington World of Adventures Resort really is Britain’s Wildest Adventure. It’s large, fun, and action-packed with a strong health and safety culture already integrated into all its working practices. The Health & Safety Manager will be the operational lead for this, supporting the resort directly and through the H&S team to make safety simple, relevant, accessible, and enabling. In this role, you and your team (two Health & Safety Advisors) will work closely with the department managers and enforcement authorities on everything from health and safety, fire safety, food hygiene to environmental health. It’ll be down to you to embed policies and procedures that assess and minimize our health and safety risks right across the Resort. Keeping the Resort teams well-advised and well-informed, you’ll also develop and deliver safety training, investigate accidents and claims, monitor safety standards and help promote our image as a leader in the safety field. You will also support staff and managers in the coordination and safe delivery of projects and other off-season activities by working closely with all departments to make sure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
Qualifications & Experience
Solid health & safety experience, preferably at a managerial level in a visitor-facing industry. Familiar with a wide range of health and safety requirements, ideally within an industry where the guest experience is key. The ability to make sound, risk-based decisions in a fast-moving environment. A strong desire to make a lasting impact on how safety is managed in the Resort with the curiosity to look beyond the status quo. Strong communication skills and the ability to coach and empower your team, leading by example. A NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent, in Occupational Health & Safety, or studying for such a qualification. Be, or become in an agreed timeframe, a Chartered Member of IOSH (or equivalent).
