Major Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Health, Safety & Ergonomics Advisor on a rolling 12-month contract, to join a multinational, automotive manufacturer based in Oxford.

Location: Oxford

Pay rate: �26.03ph

Standard working hours: 37.5hours per week

The role of the Safety & Ergonomics Advisor is to implement all necessary arrangements to assist in providing good health, safety, and welfare standards for the workforce at all levels and meet its legal obligations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implementation of planned health and safety strategies for compliance and best practice
  • Provide competent health and safety advice including technical and operational expertise to internal customers.
  • Give competent advice and support to Directors, management, and workforce, in identifying hazards and finding solutions to safety matters within the workplace.
  • Interpret workplace activities being conducted, in relation to the need for compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Conduct annual internal health and safety audit program and ensure working practices are effective and an audit plan is implemented and completed.
  • When required arrange and or deliver agreed health and safety training.
  • Consult and communicate with management and workforce to ensure risk assessments are conducted to identify high, medium, and low risks.
  • Advise to all levels throughout the business, relating to the implementation ad control of health and safety arrangements to mitigate risk pf injury and ill health within the workplace.
  • Ensure health and safety topics forms part of workplace committees/forums/safety champions including attending technology health and safety meetings as needed.

Candidate Specification

  • General Certificate in Health & Safety Management or equivalent preferably NEBOSH Diploma
  • Lead Internal Auditor OHSAS 45001
  • Membership of professional body i.e. IOSH
  • 2 years+ experience with in Health & Safety Management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Implementation and maintenance or safety management system
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • IT literate: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Full UK driving licence
