Overview of the role
Denholm Industrial Services has an opportunity for an Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join the team, located at one of our clients site located in Glasgow. The successful candidate will be working with the regional HSE Manager in implementing Denholm Industrial Services’ SHE policies and procedures and ensuring compliance across all work scopes through inspection and monitoring within a large fixed site. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to provide advice to site personnel and implement risk control strategies to ensure personnel are working to recognised Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
A strong onsite presence is required, with particular focus on interacting with our workforce of operatives performing Abrasive Blasting, Painting and Cleaning onsite, as well as assisting and supporting our delivery team to help change and improve culture and behaviors.
Role responsibilities
Support organisational strategies to drive culture and engagement levels within the workforce.
Conduct audits and inspections at the site to ensure company policies and procedures are being followed.
Oversee the company’s implementation of Denholm document management system to ensure compliance to our ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certification requirements.
Conduct occasional inhouse training for managers and operatives.
Create standard operating procedures, toolbox talks, reports, and safety alerts as guided by the Regional SHE Manager.
Provide advice and support to operatives on topics such as fire, work at height, confined spaces, HAVs, CDM, ergonomics, lone working, etc.
Keep up to date with legislation that will affect the company.
Assist in the Investigation of accidents and incidents and where necessary, assign appropriate corrective actions and follow-up their closure.
Support the team on formation of risk assessment, including general RAMS, COSHH, DSE assessments, etc.
Assist the Regional SHE manager in the Creation of a monthly SHEQ meeting presentation for delivery to the client.
Report to and support the Denholm Industrial Services Project Director and Regional SHE Manager as required.
Assist in the preparation of project specific HSE documentation in response to our specified works scopes
Skills and experience
Proven SHE experience would be of benefit but we would be open to candidates that have a minimum NEBOSH general certificate who wishes to develop their career through the company offering the necessary training and experience of working within the Industrial sector.
Experience of working with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management systems is desired but not essential as training will be given on their individual relevance and implementation.
Proficient written and spoken communication skills, as you will be expected to explain SHE concepts to a wide variety of stakeholders
A positive and highly motivated individual, with the ability to inspire others
Ability to use Office 365 packages.
Experience of working in scaffolding, industrial painting or construction sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.
