Health & Safety Director

Will be responsible to the Bachy Soletanche Managing Director . The primary function will be to ensure the effective management of the Health and Safety Department within Bachy Soletanche, advise management and our organisation at all levels on matters concerning improving the Health and Safety in our operations.
The role will also have UK Zone responsibilities dealing with the co-ordinated strategy for health and safety across other UK zone companies like Roger Bullivant, Soil Engineering, Vibro Menard and Sixense, with cooperation responsibilities with the UK Zone Director.
Main duties, roles and responsibilities are:
Managerial:
Reporting directly (hierarchically) to Bachy Soletanche managing director. Also indirectly (functionally) reporting to the Soletanche Bachy group SHEQ director (based in France). Working with the Zone Director for UK Group Health and Safety strategic matters
Leader in the development of a positive H&S culture
Responsible for developing and improving a competent Health and Safety team
Responsible for managing and reporting statistical H&S performance (leading and lagging indicators) to the board of directors and the parent company in France (SF Group), analysing the data and advising the needed strategic, managerial and practical improvement areas
Helping the management to foster a learning organisation mindset, advising how to learn from our incident, our positive interventions, and our best practices
Leading the investigation of our incidents to ensure that appropriate root causes are identified and targeting the continuous learning and improving in our operations
Report to and liaise with the UK regulator for H&S in the UK
Actively share and seek best practices, learnings exchanging with the Soletanche Bachy worldwide and UK Group, FPS and EFFC respective bodies
Active part of our innovations in the company, the Soletanche Bachy worldwide group and the UK industry representing our organisation
Co-ordinating the worldwide group initiatives to the individual business units from the wider Soletanche Bachy strategies
Collating the statistical data and producing reports to ensure the H&S strategies are developed to target the prevailing trends and lessons learnt are shared between the organisations
System related:
Leader in the development of H&S policies. Develop, maintain, and implement company H&S procedures / SSOW's to ensure best practice is maintained
Develop safe systems of work including high risk activities in health & safety subjects
Participate and co-ordinate with the other disciplines quality, environment and energy/carbon ISO standard leads in internal and external audits for ISO accreditations
Responsible for the aggregation of risk and opportunities, key interested parties/stakeholders taking into consideration the other management system disciplines and setting company and department H&S, targets, and objectives
Responsible for the management of the health and safety legal register along with regular communication of significant changes to the business
Manage the COSHH reporting system
Responsible for H&S regulatory and procedural compliance for Bachy Soletanche business unit
Establish a consistent method of reporting between the group entities to consistently measure the performance of the Bus, generate valuable feedback and structured feedback to the BU managers/Group Managing directors
Operational:
Undertake regular leadership engagement tours, produce regular leadership engagement tour reports
Building very active, close and strong relations to our operational teams in order to provide a very efficient support and leadership
Mentor and train staff at all levels from directors, senior managers to site supervisors in health, safety matters. Provide advice and guidance on the training requirements to the management for all levels of the business regarding health and safety matters
Ensure that project teams are supported and suitable H&S guidance is provided
Liaise with clients and supply chain partners on H&S matters
Responsible for supporting departments with FM responsibility and auditing these departments are compliant with UK legal requirements
Responsible for supporting HR in the implementation of the companies OH programme
Advise commercial and design teams on H&S requirements
Support commercial and estimating teams
Assist with prequalification submissions
Represent the business as necessary in senior safety meeting with JV Partners or Client
Represent the group companies at company events and report to the group performance and present the group initiatives and strategies.
The role is based in Camberley, Surrey, with travel to sites & offices across the UK
