University College Birmingham are recruiting for a highly skilled Placement Lead, to join the Department of Health and Nutrition. You will join the school at an exciting time as it continues to grow and develop new courses and expand existing offerings.
As Placement Lead, you will lead a small team in the organisation, administration, and coordination of placements for our students undertaking Nursing and Allied Health Programmes. You will have previous experience of leading or mentoring staff, administrative work in a Healthcare setting, and excellent IT skills. Full training on specific UCB systems will be provided.

Job Purpose: To Lead the Placement Team’s function to plan, provide and oversee the allocation of quality assured and a diverse range of placements, for all Nursing and Allied Health students.
Main Duties and & Responsibilities:
Take line management responsibility for the Placement Officers within the team.
To be the lead decision maker for any placement operational processes and administrative requirements.
To update placement allocation processes and procedures to reflect any changes made by the NMC or HCPC, i.e., changes to placement hours requirements, standards, and placement requirements.
To work in partnership with UCB academic teams and placement providers/practice partners to deliver a high-quality placement service that meets the regulatory requirements of each profession.
Manage and maintain the student data in relation to placements on the University allocations system (ARC).
Liaise with the placement providers to maximise the number of placement opportunities available, through attendance at placement quality meetings and regional meetings.
Scope and identify new placement areas for nursing and health to grow placement capacity, establishing key contacts, and ensuring SLAs and audits are completed to meet regulatory requirements.
Disseminate placement provider information to the Placement Officers, including newly sourced placements, so they can allocate students appropriately in response to placement partner requirements.
Ensure the placement team maintain an accurate list of contact details for all placement providers on ARC so timely communication is maintained between UCB and placement providers.
Arrange meetings with placement providers to discuss placement quality and compliance and monitoring of placement audits and action plans.
Compile reports, for each Placement Learning Partner, that include student allocation outcomes, student evaluations (3 x year), and successes and achievements.
Work with the Nursing and Health Programme Leads to ensure students have completed all pre-placement requirements, producing compliance reports to Programme Leads in a timely manner, withdrawing placements for any student that is not compliant, and communicating to practice partners.
Match student placement requirements to placement availability and support the Placement Officers to allocate all placements in a timely manner, in line with agreed protocols across BSol region.
Co-ordinate retrieval placements for students who do not meet placement hours requirements or have failed placements, ensuring placement providers receive adequate notice of these additional placements.
Prepare, amend, and issue all documentation related to placements, including handbooks and assessment profiles, and ensure that these reflect the current programme requirements.
Record and monitor patterns of placement sickness/absence for all students, highlighting potential problems to academic colleagues as and when required.
Receive complaints, and information on incidents from practice areas, and cascade to Programme Leads, and report outcomes back to practice partners in a timely manner.
Maintain records of professional regulatory requirements on ARC (NMC, HCPC) and other appropriate systems.
Establish and maintain records of student placement participation and monitoring visits, providing reports on placement activity and trends for use by UCB staff.
Maintain records of DBS, Occupational Health clearance, risk assessments, self-reporting of good health and character, mandatory training records.
Complete Health Education England Tariff reporting, providing updates on student numbers per cohort, in liaison with Programme Leads, and compile accurate placement activity data on a quarterly basis.
Coordinate Assessor/ Educator training and update days for practice staff and maintain records of trained and updated practice assessors/educators, ensuring evidence is available for NMC/HCPC.
Support Programme Leads to prepare for exam and progression boards, using ePAD/CPAF records of student achievement from placements.
To ensure practice and data sharing is in line with the General Data Protection Regulations.
To commit to upholding the principles of Safeguarding and the PREVENT agenda.
To undertake such other duties as commensurate with the nature of the post
