Health and Safety Manager - Tonbridge, Kent - construction/rail projects - £50k-£65k+package - long term construction framework 

Key duties will include:


  • Proactively promote Health & Safety best practice and establish accident & incident prevention strategies throughout the managerial/supervisory/workforce levels (including contractors) as directed by the HSQES Director / Senior H&S Manager


  • Work with the managerial/supervisory teams in the implementation of Health & Safety standards and procedures necessary to ensure compliance with the Railway Safety Certification & Principal Contractors / licenses, ISO standards, current applicable legislation and other client requirements


  • In conjunction with the Management Teams input into the production of the risk based Audit Programme and deliver in accordance with the established programme as directed by the HSQES Director / Senior H&S Manager


  • Ensure the management and close out of associated audit findings, recommendations and remedial actions ensuring the management system is maintained in an up to date manner. In addition provide the Head of Quality & Environment / Assurance Manager with proactive and reactive statistics as directed by the HSQES Director / Senior H&S Manager


  • Proactively assist managerial, supervisory and contractor's personnel with the communication of planned and unplanned Health & Safety related issues as directed by the HSQES Director / Senior H&S Manager
  • Undertake accident and incident investigations as directed by the HSQES Director / Senior H&S Manager, ensuring reports are produced in accordance with the requirements of HSQES Standards. In addition to this, ensure that the AIRSWEB system is maintained with accurate and timely data arising from each accident/incident investigation


  • In conjunction with managerial and supervisory staff manage and close out all associated investigation recommendations and remedial actions arising from accident & incident investigations. In addition assist in the management of formal investigation recommendations and remedial actions as directed by the HSQES Director / Senior H&S Manager


  • Promote and support company Health & Safety initiatives as directed by the HSQES Director / Senior H&S Manager / Operations Directors


  • Provide professional advice to the management teams on all Occupational Health and Safety matters including legislation, safe systems of work, use of plant and equipment, safety accreditation of suppliers/sub-contractors, safety standards, accident and incident investigation

Skill & Experience

The candidate will ideally have the following experience/skill set:


  • Considerable proven experience working within Rail/ Construction must be able to demonstrate previous successes gained from significant experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in leading a team of H&S professionals.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work in a collaborate way with all stakeholders.
  • Sound understanding of current HSE legislation & compliance.
  • IOSH Membership.
  • Experience with implementation of health and safety systems and processes.
  • Ability to operate effectively in the site environment.
  • Proficient in MS office applications (Microsoft Word & Excel)

The role is site based and will require night/weekend working from time to time.
