About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced hands-on Health and Safety Manager to effectively drive and champion workplace Health and Safety across the three main sites.

You will work proactively with managers, supervisors and employees across all levels and deliver continuous improvements to the safety culture across the business.

Key responsibilities will be:

  • Promoting a positive attitude towards all health and safety matters and advise on the development and implementation of the health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring they are reviewed and updated as required.
  • Providing advice and assistance to help Management achieve their Health and Safety responsibilities, assist with monitoring the effectiveness of safety management on site through inspections and audit of safety procedures.
  • Advising and assisting with identification, assessment, and recording of hazards and risks at all sites and risk assessment documentation is completed.
  • Assisting and supporting with the creation and updating of Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), working closely with engineering, and ensuring that all employees are trained effectively in the procedure
  • Maintain accident / incident records and ensure all accidents / incidents are reported in line with the accident reporting procedures and proactively ensure that all investigations of serious accidents / incidents are closed out in a timely manner and that suitable recommendations to prevent reoccurrence are identified and implemented.
  • Liaise with the Health and Safety Executive and other agencies to ensure all relevant legal notifications are prepared and processed and provide advice and support to our Legal Advisors/Insurers in any employee liability insurance claim.
  • Coordinate all matters relating to fire precautions and other emergency situations and collaboratively work with local enforcement agencies and emergency services.
  • Coordinate the company's health surveillance programme, coordinate and supply the company's Health and Safety training, deliver Health and Safety briefings, coordinate the supply and issuing of PPE and manage selection, training, and payment of appointed First Aiders

About You:

  • Experience and a proven track record as a Health and Safety Manager, ideally within the general food industry and previous experience managing Insurer employee liability claims.
  • You will possess a "can do" attitude, be self-motivated and want to get stuck in.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, and the ability to work at all levels of the organisation.
  • You will be an excellent team player and have strong interpersonal skills able to manage conflict positively, cooperate effectively and able to influence others.
  • You will have a thorough working knowledge of current health and safety legislation and a keen interest in keeping abreast of new legislation and other safety information.
  • Some business travel may expected between other sites in Beeston, Nottingham and Flixborough
  • IOSH Diploma or NEBOSH Degree Qualified in occupational health and safety.
  • IOSH Health and Safety Risk Assessment Qualification or equivalent.
  • IOSH Manual Handling Training or equivalent.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 5.00pm with some flexibility.
