Position Overview:
The Health & Safety Manager for Offshore Wind will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all health and safety initiatives related to our offshore wind projects. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and regulatory authorities to promote a culture of safety excellence and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement Safety Policies:Design, implement, and continually improve comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines specific to offshore wind operations.
Risk Assessment and Management:Conduct thorough risk assessments of offshore wind operations, identify potential hazards, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize risks to personnel, assets, and the environment.
Safety Training and Education:Develop and deliver safety training programs to educate personnel on best practices, emergency procedures, and regulatory requirements. Ensure that all personnel are adequately trained and equipped to perform their duties safely.
Incident Investigation and Reporting:Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Maintain detailed records of all incidents and ensure timely reporting to relevant stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
Regulatory Compliance:Stay abreast of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations governing offshore wind operations. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, standards, and permits.
Contractor Management:Evaluate the safety performance of contractors and subcontractors involved in offshore wind projects. Establish clear safety expectations and hold contractors accountable for adhering to safety protocols.
Emergency Preparedness and Response:Develop emergency response plans and procedures for various scenarios, including medical emergencies, severe weather events, and equipment failures. Conduct regular drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency response protocols.
Safety Culture Promotion:Foster a culture of safety awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization. Encourage active participation and engagement in safety initiatives at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH) highly desirable. Strong experience in health and safety management, preferably in the offshore wind, oil & gas, or marine industries. Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to offshore operations. Experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Willingness to travel to offshore wind sites as needed.
Salary:
£75,000 - £90,000
