A highly regarded secondary school in Walsall is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join the team as a Head of Year | Pastoral Lead for the upcoming academic year. *** Provide 1:1 pastoral support to a particular year group.

The Head of Year | Pastoral Lead will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive school culture, ensuring the wellbeing of students, and supporting their academic journey. This dynamic role requires a proactive and empathetic individual capable of managing student welfare, addressing pastoral issues, and promoting a harmonious school community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the pastoral care and wellbeing of a designated year group, providing guidance and support to students.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behaviour, attendance, and academic progress.
  • Act as a key point of contact for students, parents, and staff regarding pastoral matters.
  • Coordinate and lead assemblies, year group meetings, and enrichment activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to address and resolve student issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to student wellbeing and progress.

Ideal Candidate:
  • Proven experience in a pastoral or similar educational role within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A passion for student welfare and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work under pressure.
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to addressing student needs and challenges.
