Job Description
Collaboration and strategy are key drivers in our success. We're looking for you to join us as our Head of Planning, across our B&Q network, driving efficency and leading the planning teams over our two home delivery networks, along with working in partnership with our site operation teams to ensure efficient plans are effectively implemented to provide high service levels.
Reporting into our General Manager, you'll be leading a team of 56 colleagues including 3 direct reports, where you'll be taking ownership for the day-to-day management of planning via Paragon, ensuring are fleets are in line with forecasted volumes and lead times, to ensure the delivery of our customer proposition in the most cost-efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day management of planning (via Paragon) and order management, including managing escalations, express orders, pallet transfer, store revamps/range reviews in line with B&Q and Wincanton guidelines.
Responsible for the Central Planning budget of circa £3.5m, with overall accountability and leadership of 56 colleagues, supporting our General Manager in providing operational leadership in all aspects of planning the Home delivery fleet and providing MI reports/information required to achieve this.
Build Paragon planning strategy to achieve long-term best in class objectives, with continuous improvements to identify/highlight areas of opportunity to reduce fleet, costs and improve service.
Develop and present business performance reports, trends and insight to fleet efficiencies, along with utilisation and conformance to the plan (including financials, KPIS metrics and opportunities).
Lead the transport operations on capacity vs requirements, leading discussions with the leadership team on tactics to address impacts, opportunities, issues and challenges.
Control of the Store van fleet, fuel cards and 3rd party management of the vehicle provider, along with managing the Carriers relationship (cost and service levels) assisting B&Q with carrier projects and SLAs.
What will you bring to our team?
Business strategy focused, agile thinking with a collaborative approach.
Previous leadership experience specialising in planning and working in Paragon, at a Network or Multi-Site level (preferably home delivery, with strong people skills).
Strong presenting, reporting and communicating skills to deliver to our senior management stakeholders, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Proactive can-do attitude, with the ability to form strong working relationships at all levels, bringing your team on your journey with development and succession planning.
Comfortable working on your own initiative in a fast-paced, complex and dynamic environment with significant change, ambiguity and adapting to evolving requirements.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, to 'connect the dots' and approach issue resolution with a 'forward-looking' view to anticipate and address problems.
Note: This opportunity requires travel and comes with a company car/car allowance. Our internal contractual title is Planning Manager.
