Head of Trading: Greenfield Power Trading Desk Mint Selection is partnered with a market-leading independent power producer. Owning and operating one of Europe's large energy storage portfolios with a mature but rapidly growing asset base, they are establishing a power trading desk to trade their asset-backed portfolio across the short to long-term power markets.
They are seeking an experienced Power Trading professional to lead the buildout from the core desk formulation strategy through to active portfolio management, trading strategy execution and implementing robust risk management and hedging frameworks to ensure the continued success of the desk.
The role involves working closely with an exceptional team of Data Scientists and Quants, advising on trading strategies and supporting the development of market-leading algorithms and models to trade flexible generation assets. Key Responsibilities:-Provide expert guidance and insights to the Analytics Team on energy trading strategies, market dynamics, and risk management principles. -Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to develop and refine quantitative models and trading algorithms. -Conduct in-depth analysis of energy market trends, supply-demand dynamics, regulatory developments, and competitor strategies to inform trading decisions. -Monitor market conditions in real-time and identify opportunities for arbitrage, hedging, and portfolio optimisation. -Implement sophisticated risk management techniques to mitigate market, operational, and financial risks associated with trading activities. -Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the Analytics Team.Qualifications:-Proven track record of at least 5 years in energy trading, quantitative trading, or a related field, preferably within the energy sector. -Deep understanding of energy markets, including power, natural gas, renewable energy certificates (RECs), and carbon markets. -Proficiency in quantitative analysis, statistical modelling, and programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, or similar tools. -Experience with time-series analysis, machine-learning techniques, and algorithmic trading strategies. -Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and influence decision-making at all levels of the organisation. -Results-driven with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement in energy trading practices.Please reach out to Charlie Nott - #####/020 ##### ##### for immediate details.Mint Selection is a trusted Clean Energy Recruitment Specialist with an extensive network and deep sector knowledge.
