Head of Trading (Commercial Underwriting)

We are currently working closely with a growth focused MGA in the City, who are now seeking to appoint Head of Commercial Trading to focus on the development and new business and growth for their commercial lines book.

They have had an incredible twelve months of growth and have had national recognition in multiple industry awards celebrating their customer focus, and innovative approach. As the business grows and develops it needs to continue to attract and develop key people leaders to drive the business forward.

This is a newly created role, and they are seeking a commercially astute Trading Underwriter to lead the team, manage key external relationships and take bottom line responsibility across several classes of business such as Commercial Combined, Construction, Property and Cyber.

You will act as the catalyst for growth, combing technical knowledge, market relationships and a collaborative leadership style to get the best out of a high performing and high potential team.

You will manage and lead the complex commercial underwriting team, and where required underwrite your own portfolio of new and existing business. You will be required to monitor team performance and manage team workloads as well as fostering strong and meaningful relationships with broker partners and internal stakeholders.

They want to speak to two types of people. Senior Trading Underwriters who are looking for the next step in their career, as well as existing Trading underwriting managers/HO Trading who are looking for a new challenge with an MGA who are really going places. You will need have strong commercial combined/commercial package underwriting experience gained in an MGA/Underwriting Agency environment, and possess an entrepreneurial spirit, being able to develop and drive both the business and team and possessing strong insurer and broker contacts. You will have the ability to inspire those around you, so must also be a highly credible individual. Someone holding Dip CII or ACII status or having gained significant progress achieving this would also be a bonus. 

In return, the salary on offer is £80,000-£100,000 plus bonus, and a strong benefits package.
