Job Purpose
As the Head of SHEQ, you will serve as the competent person and primary contact across the organisation for all health, safety, environmental, and quality matters. Your role will involve providing guidance to our Board of Directors and respective companies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices. You will work closely with all directors to cultivate a strong SHEQ culture and oversee the integration of new systems and processes into our operations.
Key Responsibilities
Reviewing, updating, and advising on existing policies
Managing changes to ensure compliance and delivering compliance training
Monitoring contractors and sub-contractors
Conducting audits and investigating incidents
Updating health and safety strategies and developing emergency response procedures
Developing documentation for SHE Management System and producing compliance reports
Supporting staff to meet SHEQ requirements and staying updated with legislation
Promoting a strong culture of SHEQ practice and raising awareness through workshops and training
Qualifications And Experience
NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety
IOSH status, actively developing towards CMIOSH status
Minimum 2 years’ experience in managerial Health & Safety role at CMIOSH status OR minimum 5 years’ experience at ISOSH status
Excellent understanding of safety and industry requirements
Demonstrable experience in quality and environmental management practices for business improvement
Expert knowledge of ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, ISO14001, and ISO 9001
Skills And Abilities
Ability to review RAMS, SSOW, and manage permits for work for contractors and subcontractors
Excellent report writing and numerical skills with proficiency in MS Office
Excellent organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and presentation skills
Ability to self-assess performance and drive continual improvement
Creative and innovative mindset to meet business needs
People Management
Lead and inspire the team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
Provide guidance and support for professional development and growth within the organization
Implement effective coaching and mentoring programs
Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team
Lead by example, demonstrating strong leadership qualities and ethical behaviour
Additional Requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and relevant software
Commitment to achieving high-quality outcomes
Essential Car User with a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle
Flexibility to work outside normal office hours and potential foreign travel
