Do you like to manage a diverse and fascinating team of staff? Build on Belief is seeking a Head of Services to join our friendly senior leadership team and deliver high quality and consistent services with a strong focus on weekend service delivery.

JOB SUMMARY & PURPOSE
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Services will ensure that we are delivering high quality, lived experience social activity-based substance use recovery and support services.
You will be responsible for the development and delivery of place-based services across London and the South-East of England.
You will have overall responsibility for the delivery of all the service provision and the line management of the staffing associated with it.
You will also ensure service quality, good safeguarding practice and impact in line with the charity’s objectives and be responsible for ensuring good stakeholder relations.
You will have responsibility for a variety of services, including but not limited to weekend social activity hubs; peer support groups; recovery coaching programmes; homelessness and advice support; recovery cafes; employment and training support.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
Leadership & strategy
Work as part of Build on Belief’s Senior Leadership Team to lead delivery of our strategy, ensuring that our strategic objectives are met, and our values and principles are embedded across our work.
Develop appropriate plans and work programmes and lead collaborative groups to drive the delivery of our organisational strategy through our local social activity hubs and place-based services.
Be a visible presence across the services, displaying positive leadership behaviours and promoting a positive culture which engages our workforce.
Management & staffing
Lead, manage, supervise, and appraise our service Operations Managers, setting clear targets, objectives, and expectations.
Ensure that appropriate polices and processes are implemented, so that services and contracts are well managed, deliver safe and inclusive practices and risk is appropriately managed.
Ensure that services and contracts are using appropriate reporting and recording systems and gather data which supports informed decision making.
Provide relevant data, information and regular reporting to the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees to provide assurance, accountability, oversight and inform decision making as required.
Work with the Head of Finance and Central Operations on recruitment and onboarding of new staff across the charity.
Work with the organisations nominated Safeguarding leads in the SLT and Trustee Board to ensure all safeguarding procedures and policies are implemented correctly at the local services, and that the charity is fully compliant with safeguarding policy and procedures.
Ensure that Operations Managers responsibility for Health and Safety implementation at the local service hubs.
Responsibility for the full compliance of their team with all necessary regulations and legal requirements, including the Children’s Act, Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, Health & Safety and Working with Vulnerable Groups.
Training & development
Responsibility for all training programmes for service managers and volunteers, including oversight of delivery and data recording.
Develop training programme for Service Managers and Support Workers with the Operations Managers and ensure implementation of the programme across all services.
Ensure a proactive programme of training for volunteers is provided.
Funding, finances & performance
Responsibility for all services and contracts to be delivered to budget and meet to internal and external Key Performance Indicators and quality standards.
Work with colleagues to ensure we deliver on our contractual and partnership obligations in areas where we are a key lived experience recovery provider and use our expertise in this area to develop and deliver transformational partnership working.
Services development
Work in partnership with the Head of Finance and Central Operations to identify opportunities to expand our service offer and grow our income streams.
Work with the Senior Leadership Team and Fundraising Manager to join up and test other innovative forms of service delivery through a range of funders to address gaps in delivery and to join up our local and regional offers.
Work with colleagues to ensure our operational delivery structure reflects the external health and social care landscape and supports the delivery of a range of specialist services.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team, adopt a continuous improvement approach to the charity’s activities, identifying and supporting plans to improve/transform all elements of our work.

In carrying out the above duties the post holder will:
o Work closely with the Chief Executive to optimise their respective roles.
o Seek to improve personal performance, contribution, knowledge, and skills.
o Ensure the implementation of all Build on Belief Policies and Procedures.
o Contribute to maintaining safe systems of work and a safe environment.
o Undertake other duties appropriate to the role.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
Regular supervision and performance appraisals of service centre staff.
KPI and contract monitoring reporting.
Compliance of services with organisational policies & procedures.
Partner & stakeholder relations.
Appropriate responses to incidents and complaints.
Staff recruitment.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Experience:
At least three years in a leadership role within a person-centred, social care setting.
Staff management experience in a service delivery setting.
Setting strategic direction and delivery.
Evidence of leading and shaping organisational culture.
Qualifications: Ideally Degree Level
Minimum NVQ Leader in Adult care Level 5 or equivalent.
A qualification in leadership or management (or suitably skilled by experience)
Skills, Values and Knowledge:
Able to work on own initiative, prioritise work, handle pressure and the day-to-day decisions of running the operational aspects of the organisation.
Able to develop, maintain and monitor management information systems and procedures.
Able to communicate effectively in person, in writing and over the telephone, with individuals and with a wide variety of organisations and audiences and to research, analyse and interpret complex information and produce clear verbal and written reports.
Good knowledge of the drug and alcohol treatment & recovery sector and/or the wider social care system and legislation.
Understanding of peer led and. co-production contracts and tenders.
Able to lead and develop operational teams.
Good people skills.
A real desire to support and develop others.
Able to produce and analyse management reports.
Attention to detail, accurate, with the ability to see the big picture.
