Wayman Group is delighted to present an exciting opportunity for a Head of Science to join our team at a lovely school in Epsom, Surrey. This is a full-time position starting in April. We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual who is dedicated to delivering high-quality Science education.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of talented Science teachers and guide the development and implementation of a comprehensive Science curriculum. As the Head of Science, you will play a key role in driving academic excellence and fostering a love for Science among students. You will have the autonomy to create innovative lesson plans, plan and organize Science-related events, and collaborate with other departments to create interdisciplinary projects.
Furthermore, you will have access to state-of-the-art Science laboratories and resources to support hands-on and experiential learning. Your expertise will be valued in mentoring and supporting junior teachers, as well as in developing and implementing effective teaching strategies.

Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Science department, ensuring the delivery of an engaging Science curriculum
Provide strategic direction and support to Science teachers, fostering a culture of excellence
Monitor and evaluate student progress in Science, implementing intervention strategies as required
Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching and learning resources
Promote a positive learning environment and uphold the school's values
Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's Science program
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and achievements
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Specialization in Science or a related field
Postgraduate degree in Science or Science Education (preferred)
Experience and Skills:
Significant experience teaching Science, ideally within a secondary school setting
Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others
Excellent knowledge of the Science curriculum and effective teaching strategies
Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of advancements in Science education
