Salary: £65,009 – £71,728 (L14 – L18)

Contract Type: Permanent, full-time

About the role

Vision for Education are proud to be working in partnership with a multi academy trust in East Anglia to recruit a Head of School.

The main purpose of the role is to provide inspirational and visionary leadership and to be responsible for the effective day to day operational management of the school.

The successful candidate will ensure that the aims and objectives for the school are implemented in accordance with both the trust’s policies and national/local education strategies.

You will continue to develop the outstanding educational provision and create a secure and stable education environment, so that students fulfil their potential.  The successful candidate will be supported by both the school’s leadership team and executive headteacher in achieving these aims.

Responsibilities of the role include:


  • Deliver and sustain educational excellence throughout the school through a range of leadership strategies
  • Work closely with the Executive Head, the Trust CEO, & central team to implement and monitor the strategic vision for the school
  • Develop the school to become a sustainable, outstanding, specialist provision – developing partnerships with students, parents, the local community, the wider trust and beyond
  • Develop innovative ways of teaching & learning to meet the needs of students of all abilities and SEND needs
  • Effectively manage the deployment, appraisal, work performance, and continuous professional development (CPD) of all staff

About the school

The school is part of a MAT that consists of several SEND schools and also provides some specialist provision within mainstream education.  The school is a modern free school that provides education for children aged 5 – 16 with communication and interaction needs, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

The school’s vision is to develop well-rounded individuals, prepared for a future in a work environment and contributing to society as a productive citizen.  They have capacity for 100 students and are currently full.

Requirements include:


  • Teaching qualification with QTS / QTLS (essential)
  • Completed NPQH or working towards it (desirable)
  • Senior leadership experience within a special educational setting
  • Record of successfully implementing initiatives to raise standards
  • Experience of analysing and using school performance data
  • Understanding of SEND in a specialist setting
