We are looking for a dedicated, committed and enthusiasticPE professional who plays a full role in providing and overseeing the Rugby Programme across George Heriot’s school as our Head of Rugby.
Alongside normal teaching duties, the post will hold a time allowance against and willinvolve the direct management of the School’s Rugby Programme which includes line management of our permanent Rugby Coach and team of seasonal coaches. You will work closely with the Director of PE & Sport the PE and Sports Administrator to organise and develop the Rugby fixture list across the whole school. The Head of Rugby will be expected to ensure that high standards of coaching are in place across all age groups and lead a formal coaching programme.
Physical Education is taught through Core PE to all pupils from Nursery to S5 and a Games programme that encompasses P5 to S6. In S3 pupils have the option to choose National 5 PE, progressing on to Higher PE in S5 and S6. The successful applicant will be required to teach across all levels.
The department runs an extensive extra-curricular programme which the applicant would be expected to contribute to throughout the weekand on Saturday mornings, this may include organising sports days and other events.

Appropriately qualified and successful teacher
Must be registered or eligible for registration with the GTCS
Relevant SRU or equivalent Rugby coaching qualifications
Previous experience of coaching & playing Rugby to a high level
Proven ability to relate well to and communicate effectively with pupils, staff and parents
