Job DescriptionOur client is a FTSE 250 plc technology manufacturer that generates nearly £1.5bn in annual revenues. It operates in a niche channel due to its patented technology and works with a portfolio of household name brands clients. The successful UK business is complimented by a US, Continental European and rapidly expanding Asia presence.This position will report to the Group General Counsel and and will drive risk management processes as a key advisor to the Executive Board. The role may also evolve in the mid-term to include oversight of the internal audit activities that are currently managed on an outsourced basis by a third party provider.Key responsibilities will include:Enterprise Risk ManagementAccountable for developing an effective risk management framework, by the effective gathering, management and analysis of risk information/data.Drive effective horizon scanning for emerging and new risks and ensure a progressive control of quality and effectiveness. (e.g. FRC and BEIS).Working with Senior Management to evaluate the risks of key new initiatives and activities.Lead annual Risk Assessment process and present to Executive Committee and Board.Facilitate risk appetite discussions at the Risk Committee, GEC and Board.Reporting and socialising risks – internal and external reporting, including production of the Annual Report risk section.Responsible for the development of any future roles within the team and a key contributor in developing a high-performing and customer-focused team in across the Finance function.Assessing second line risk activities and capabilities of regional and country leadership to identify any areas of improvement, gaps or inconsistencies.Inform and develop appropriate Risk governance and act as a leader on cultural change in relation to risk awareness broadly.Creation of appropriate structures including regular and ad hoc committees, risk appetite process, policies for risk management and related matters and control standards.Pursue effective external networking with relevant Industry leaders and specialists to inform best practice and innovation.Assurance ActivitiesCo-ordinate risk management with Second Line Business Controls activity including oversight of improvements.Consideration of the target operating model for assurance including development of the assurance map to understand and oversee the various sources of assurance.Liaison with other sources of assurance such as external audit and second line functions.Reporting to Risk & Audit Committees.Candidates will preferably have gained previous experience in the retail or FMCG or a B2C sector and demonstrate an understanding of the complexities of a tangible product related environment. The preferred candidate is likely to be an Enterprise Risk specialist and previous experience is likely to have been gained as a No.2 in FTSE 100 assurance function or as a Head of Risk in another FTSE 250 sized business. Previous responsibility for internal audit activities is not essential but candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, a commercial orientation and the ability to influence decision making within the Executive team.This client is not currently considering individuals from heavily regulated industries such as financial services.
