Head of Risk and Compliance

As the Head of Risk and Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing NUSU's risk management, internal control assurance, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Your expertise will be crucial in refining our core policies, process documents, and procedures to align with NUSU’s risk profile
Responsibilities

Lead risk, compliance and safety strategy: Create and develop frameworks that can be effectively delivered across NUSU.

Oversee compliance and governance: Ensure compliance, governance and risk management within NUSU ensuring strategies, plans and projects are delivered efficiently.

Promote a proactive culture: Prioritize and embed a proactive risk and compliance culture within NUSU.
·
Build strategic relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior colleagues, university colleagues and regulatory bodies to achieve objectives through excellent service delivery.

Provide expert advice: deliver timely and relevant information to senior colleagues to facilitate better decision-making, offering expert advice and well-considered opinions.

Manage team: Oversee the Governance and Compliance Coordinator, providing coaching and mentoring to achieve key priorities and targets. This includes overseeing the complaints management process ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues and continuous improvement of service delivery

Inclusive leadership: Exhibit and promote an inclusive leadership style, supporting personal and functional development.

Accountable for risk matters: take responsibility for internal and external risk matters, attend the safety meetings and other relevant committee meetings and events, liaise with authorities and governing bodies, and develop policies and procedures to support these efforts.
Qualifications
·
Degree or equivalent experience in a safety, compliance, assurance, or risk management subject area
·
Experienced people Manager with the ability to deliver, inspire, engage, and motivate colleagues to promote risk, compliance, and safety
·
The ability to identify service shortfalls or additional requirements and co-ordinate and/or design the delivery of solutions
·
The ability to manage relationships and influence senior leaders, demonstrating benefits through risk-based decision making in relation to safety or compliance
