We are excited to be supporting this community Academy based at the heart of Southwark who have an exceptional opportunity for an outstanding teacher to join their thriving Humanities team.

The core purpose of this post is to serve as the Head of RS (covering RSE and Health Education) and to be the lead instructor in this subject area. Responsibilities include teaching KS3 and KS4, with future planning for KS5 as the school expands.

You will be an innovative and forward–looking individual who can inspire students and contribute fully to a very active RE team. This post is suitable for ECT’s and experienced candidates.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Curricular Knowledge: Stay updated on curriculum guidelines, use them in planning, and share this information with others.
  • Lesson Planning: Follow and contribute to the Academy’s lesson planning and evaluation frameworks.
  • Student Behaviour: Support positive behaviour among students.
  • Assessment Leadership: Lead the RS assessment process and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Teaching Contribution: Teach RS to students of all ages and abilities.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up with developments in your subject, participate in training, and suggest improvements.
  • Outstanding Lessons: Plan and deliver excellent lessons using a variety of teaching resources.
  • EDI Support: Support and contribute to the Academy’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion strategy within the curriculum.
  • Regular Marking: Mark student work regularly and thoroughly according to the Academy’s feedback policy.
  • Examinations: Oversee, set, and mark internal exams and tests.
  • Teaching Methods: Use a wide range of teaching methods effectively in the classroom.
  • Commitment: Participate fully in the Academy’s house system and enrichment activities.
  • ICT Skills: Use excellent ICT skills as a key part of teaching RS.
  • Parent Communication: Provide accurate information to parents and attend parents' evenings and meetings as required.
