GSL Education are thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Head of Religious Education to join a secondary school in Swale. As a Head of Religious Education, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the spiritual and moral development of students while leading and inspiring a team of dedicated educators.

As the Head of Religious Education, you will lead the Religious Education department, overseeing curriculum development, lesson planning, and assessment strategies. You will nurture a passion for religious studies among students and staff alike, fostering an environment of inclusivity and understanding.

Key Responsibilities for the Head of Religious Education role :


  • Lead the Religious Education department, ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive, engaging, and high-quality curriculum.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies.
  • Provide guidance and support to Religious Education staff, promoting professional development and growth.
  • Monitor student progress and attainment, implementing interventions where necessary to support student achievement.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community, promoting the importance of religious education.
  • Stay abreast of developments in the field of religious studies and incorporate innovative teaching methods into the curriculum.

To be a Head of Religious Education you are required to  have:


  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Religious Studies or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching Religious Education at the secondary level, with a track record of achieving positive student outcomes.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • A commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and respect within the school community.
