Nottingham Trent House (95002), United Kingdom, Nottingham, NottinghamshireHead of Regulatory LegalAbout the roleAs Head of Regulatory Legal in the UK, you’ll lead a team responsible for supporting the business to meet its obligations across financial services and data protection. This will include: providing regulatory advice to COEP’s business in relation to FCA requirements, overseeing the Data Protection Office, managing regulatory interactions with key UK and US regulators, and having oversight of the legal team’s documentation of COEP’s legal and regulatory obligations.What you'll doLeading the UK Regulatory Legal team. You will report directly to Head of Legal, within COEP’s Legal, Governance, and External Affairs functionBecoming an active member of the Legal, Governance and External Affairs leadership teamDeveloping and maintaining strong relationships with the business, understanding its objectives, priorities, products and the market in which it operatesDeveloping and maintaining a strong internal (both UK and US) and external network, including with key contacts at regulatorsManaging key interactions with regulators, including supporting before and during examinationsLeading and developing a team of lawyers and legal specialists, which delivers advice and support to the business across non-customer facing financial services regulatory requirements, including:Senior Manager and Certification Regime - Managing COEP’s approach to SMCR, including advising on COEP’s overall approach, mapping of responsibilities, making the appropriate applications to the FCA and ensuring Senior Managers and Certified Staff and Conduct Rules receive appropriate training and support to discharge their obligations;Data Protection governance - Overseeing the governance and oversight activities of the Data Protection Office and being a point of escalation for complex Data Protection questions and issuesOperational Resilience - Supporting the business to meet the FCA’s expectations and maintain operational resilienceProviding leadership and oversight across the Legal team’s responsibilities to: (i) undertake horizon scanning for changes to the legal or regulatory landscape; and (ii) the documentation of all relevant legal and regulatory requirements on behalf of the business, partnering closely with ComplianceOverseeing the relationship with external counsel engaged on any relevant mattersWhat we're looking forA high level of subject matter expertise across consumer credit regulation and data protectionA strong understanding of the financial services market and broader economic and regulatory environmentExperience of direct engagement with relevant regulatorsExperience of leading and developing a high performing team, and an ability to have a broader leadership impact across the department and businessAbility to set a strategic vision for a team, partnering with senior stakeholders to align with overall COEP strategic prioritiesHighly developed interpersonal skills and an ability to build strong relationships, both internally and externallyStrong verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail and exemplary drafting and proofing abilitiesAn ability to deliver strong stakeholder management, including forward thinking and an ability to anticipate and navigate sometimes competing stakeholder needsWillingness and ability to step into an influencing role across industry bodies, regulators and external professional contacts to drive outcomesAn ability to work autonomously and lead others to get work done.Exceptional judgment, with confidence in decisions, whilst also knowing when to escalate mattersHighly organised and motivated to ensure a high quality of output from a team, with a willingness to adapt and evolve style to meet the needs of stakeholders and internal policies and proceduresWillingness to learn and contribute to COEP’s overall business strategyWhere and how you'll workThis is a permanent position and can be based in either our Nottingham or London offices.We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home.We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in our offices 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.Many of our associates have flexible working arrangements, and we're open to talking about an arrangement that works for you.What’s in it for youBring us all this - and you’ll be well rewarded with a role contributing to the roadmap of an organisation committed to transformationWe offer high performers strong and diverse career progression, investing heavily in developing great people through our Capital One University training programmes (and appropriate external providers)Immediate access to our core benefits including pension scheme, bonus, generous holiday entitlement and private medical insurance – with flexible benefits available including season-ticket loans, cycle to work scheme and enhanced parental leaveOpen-plan workspaces and accessible facilities designed to inspire and support you.
