A Head of Product Development job is available via Senex Recruitment in Maidstone, Kent. Are you passionate about crafting innovative design solutions for a niche manufacturing company? We are seeking a proactive Head of Product Development to spearhead the set up of a new design function.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll be at the forefront of the in-housing of a new design department, responsible for developing product ranges.
Your responsibilities will span from conceptualization to execution and delivery to manufacturing and beyond, ensuring each product exceeds industry standards and aligns with the businesses strategic goals. To achieve this, you will have an entrepreneurial outlook to design engineering coupled with exceptional project and design skills.

Here’s what you’ll be doing in the Head of Product Development Job
Define and implement the company’s strategic product vision, keeping a finger on the pulse of market needs.
Conduct in-depth market research to steer product development priorities and decisions.
Implement and create new products for market in collaboration with ambitions of the business.
Enhancing existing products within agreed-upon timelines.
Foster seamless collaboration between product development and other departments, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
Recruit, Mentor, and develop the product development team, nurturing a culture of innovation and accountability.
Manage the product development budget effectively, monitoring ROI and mitigating risks
Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from design to compliance, ensuring adherence to industry regulations
Engage with stakeholders, in a regulated industry, to understand their needs and preferences.
Ensure the manufacturability of products and maintain exceptional standards.
Head of Product Development job – What we’re looking for?
Proven experience in senior product development roles, with a track record of successful product launches
Strong business acumen and strategic decision-making skills.
Exceptional leadership and interpersonal abilities.
Design experience coupled with knowledge of Project Management, Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Product Management
Experience working with and management of a leading CAD package (i.e. SolidWorks, Creo. SolidEdge, AutoCAD)
Relevant degree in Product Management, Design, Engineering, or related fields.
