Job Description
My client is a global Fortune 500 company with an international presence. It is an independent SRA authorised and regulated legal business offering services to both insured and non-insured clients comprising of businesses, high net worth individuals, and associations across a broad spectrum of industries.
This firm has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Casualty and is seeking an accomplished senior lawyer to lead their growing casualty team based in Leeds. The successful candidate will provide the team with strategic leadership, development and growth, whilst at the same time retaining their own caseload.

What you’ll be doing:
Lead and run the casualty team (currently comprising of 3 lawyers and 2 paralegals)
Manage, reinforce and develop internal organisational referrer relationships, corporate client and business partner relationships for growth of casualty team and wider business
Input into strategy and direction at senior level
Provide both contentious and non-contentious legal advice representing businesses and individuals in an insured and insured capacity
Handle your own caseload of complex casualty (EL/PL) claims
General management including governance, compliance, supplier and contract management
Budget, financial and profitability control including running own caseload delivering appropriate personal billing and financial targets
Support the Markel Law advice line and hub services management in relation to content and quality of casualty matters
Overall team strategic direction
Must haves:
Have significant injury law (EL/PL) expertise and management experience
Experience of client management and practice development
Be able to demonstrate technical excellence
A following of business or strong business development experience will be a significant advantage
Have knowledge of legal/insurance relationships and their interaction
Demonstrate first class client care and communication skills across all levels
Effective manager, demonstrate positive and co-operative interaction with team members
