Due to the continuing expansion of our Rail Division, Story Contracting have a brand new vacancy for a Head of Operations based in our North West Region.As part of the senior management team supporting the Regional Director in leading project portfolios to deliver operational and commercial success by driving continuous improvement and development. Creating a team and culture fit for our future vision.Key responsibilities:Contribute to the creation and implementation of the Divisional Business StrategyIdentify and develop project opportunities in line with the Strategic Plan.Build successful project teams.Influence your team to find and use innovative solutions to gain competitive edgeProactively promote and protect the Story brandOversee operational delivery, ensuring that ALL practices and regulatory standards are achieved.Ensure that compliance standards are adhered to throughout construction operationsInstil and drive a safety culture, through role model behaviours, ensuring provision of training and setting expectationsKeep abreast of and ensure implementation of up-to-date regulatory and legislative requirementsConduct HSQE inspections, driving change and continuous improvementEnsure high-level risks are managed and mitigatedConsistently deliver high-quality, profitable projects.Provide resources with the capacity and capability to meet the requirements of sourcing, winning and delivering the future workplans.Consistently deliver on quality, safety, programme, client expectations and other business measures.Deliver a commercial performance in line with the Business PlanUtilise Construction Programmes to monitor progress and deliver commercial advantage.Drive repeat business through credible and reliable delivery of projectsDrive lessons learned activities at every opportunity, ensuring identified continuous improvements are implementedBuild and maintain effective Client and internal stakeholder relationshipsDevelop, maintain and role model excellent key Client relationships, maximising repeat business opportunitiesBuild a Project Team and resourcing model capability to meet needs of the forward pipelineLead and develop the performance of the Operational Teams to meet existing and future needs of the businessCoach and mentor individuals to maximise potential of themselves and the teamSet robust performance and personal objectives that are aligned to the business plan deliveryIdentify talent and potential within the team, driving development and capacityIdentify poor performance within the team and addressEnsure reward and recognition activities are fair, equitable and aligned to business performanceIdentify any business-level competency gaps and implement a strategy to resolveThe ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:People management and developmentRail experience along with foundations in civils backgroundCommercial acumenP&L Management including forecastingManaging safetyClient managementOpportunity and risk managementFirst-class coaching, communication and planningInspiring interpersonal effectivenessIT literateChange managementBenefitsAt Story Contracting, we invest in our people.
